Logging out in space problem...
The log out timer won't work for me it says count down aborted, as soon as i press logout. I wasn't moving at all or pressing any buttons. But the timer won't even get to 9 when its aborted. I went to the nearest station to log off. I'm not sure when this started happening because i was able to log out in space about 3 months ago. I usually log of in station.
This happens if you have F-A on (FA constantly changes your velocity, resetting the timer), or if your turbo-lock is stuck (you might not be turboing, but if you warp with turbo on, the game never resets your turbo-lock status, and things your turbo is locked when you try to log out). Turn of F-A and tap the tab key a couple of times (resetting turbo-lock), then try again. It's always been this way...
You could just Quit. Cmd-Q. Shuts the whole thing down very quickly.
And leaves you floating in space for 60 seconds until you time out...
I think that might be it Rogue Thanks. I'll try it the next time i'm in game.
It also happens with many optical mice that *never* sit still.
Turning doesn't cancel /logoff for me, so unless you have your mouse axis bound to strafe or something, I can't see why hyper-sensetive mice would be problem.
It does cancel logoff with FA on and thrust != 0...
*knock knock*
Helloooo? Jestatis? Cmd-Q?
Or Alt-F4?
Works really well.

I don't know about you Leberbac but i like logging out the right way. Alt-F4 seems to just quil Vendetta with no time for it to shut down proberly.
What time is needed? It should properly handle ALT+F4, along with any variety of signals (except for SIGKILL, of course).
Close sockets, free memory... all of which can occur in fractions of a section.

Alt-F4/Cmd-Q leaves you in space. The program is shut down properly, but your character is left to time out (the server doesn't know whether you force-quitted or just lost internet connectivity for a few seconds). Timeout is 60 seconds, during which your ship just floats in space. Alt-F4ing is not reccommended.
I've come back after days of not playing, to login and find myself drifting in Sedina B-8. I always Cmd-Q. I never use the "logout". Although I usually am in a station when I quit.
Is this "bad"? Like unplugging SCSI peripherals when your computer is on?

Bad like unplugging SCSI peripherals from a server while it's writing data to the peripherals...
I wouldn't say it's quite that bad, but don't expect to always be so lucky to come back & not be dead, LeberMac.
I do it ALL the time and I'm never dead. Hunh. Or wait, maybe I *do* die? Who knows. I'm usually in-station. I'll keep track of my deaths and see if I have an extra one when I do this next time.
meh, if you time it right then...erm, *sigh* nm.
Please don't go into that zamzx. Let's keep that exploit on the down-low. :P
