CPU-cycles consumed needlessly.
All the various title and menu screens completely blitz the CPU, and pointlessly, I think. Any station screen, for instance, or the "Please wait while warping is in progress" screen.
I can tell because I'm not doing anything intensive, save playing mp3s in WinAmp v.2, which is taking ~1% of my available horsepower. It will wind up playing immensely sluggishly at that point.
Could we arrange it so the screens update, say, at whatever refresh rate the card is sending to the monitor? Anything faster than that is wasted effort, anyway.
Thanks!

PS: I really enjoy the new version. It has a lot of character, and the weapons are quite fun.

There's an video option called "Vsync". That slows down refreshes to the same rate as your monitor. Only available in DirectX, though.
Loading screens may slow things down, too, because they allocate lots of memory, load lots of stuff from disk, and then stream lots of stuff over your AGP (or PCI) bus.

For the record, that cured the problem exactly.
I was convinced I had vsync on before. Now I feel kind of embarrassed. However,I have very smooth tunes playing, even while shopping. Thanks.
