wheeeeee HOW FAST!!
Was just heading for the GR wormhole when the whole universe took a
big jump backwards by about 8000m.
Every time i made 2k progress forwards i jumped about 10k back with ever increasing speed.
No response from any flight controls whatever. Unable to take screenshots using F12. But still able to chat and take screenies using
/dump.
After about 2 - 3 minutes hit over 15000m/s, energy / battery little or no drain.

Most of that is consistent with lag or some other connection strangeness, but the ability to chat should have been interupted. You were able to chat and other pilots were able to respond to you specifically and immediately?
yup, no problem with chatting at all. I hope im not getting lag on a 1mb connection.

I've always been able to chat when this happens. I think it's more a sync issue than a lag issue, although lag may very well initiate the sync error.
My guess would be that the server and your client are reporting different locations for your ship and so the server is attempting to reposition you (only instead it sends you off into space at increadable speeds)
One common oddity I've noticed is that everytime I send chat while "hyperspacing" I jump a few thousand meters.

Yeah, this has been known to happen in a number of different circumstances. Whenever I experienced it, it was usually due to a brief burst of packet loss, causing the server and your client to lose sync with each other regarding your location at a given moment. I tend to refer to it as a Temporal Displacement Bug, due to the way the server tends to think you have warped into the past or future.
When they attempt to realign, you start flying off into the Void, and are unable to control your ship. Most of the time you cannot chat while this is happening, or only every 10-15 seconds, since the server thinks that your client has jumped into the future or past, and that new messages are coming before the last one you sent. Strange stuff. Best recourse is to wait it out, or log out and back in.

See my old post about Temporal De-Sync thing. It's rather an old bug that has to do with your connection and packets not being sent or something, not the game.
