Targeting nearest enemy
When Im grouped up I find that when I select nearest enemy , it gives me either the nearest group member or enemy ,whichever is closest. Am I doing something wrong , or is it a bug? Also would it be possible to include a target next enemy selection.
Are you hitting x?
Also there's [ and ] to toggle through targets

The way the computer determines who's a "Friend" and who's a "Foe" isn't always correct.

There are currently 3 checks done to determine whether someone is red or green:
- their standing towards your nation
- your standing towards their nation
- their standing towards the faction that is in control of the sector.
If any of these 3 are < -600 then they show up red.

So if your group is in enemy space, you will all most likely show up as red, even to each other. I do hope the devs fix this so it's somewhat better, possibly by making the 3rd check only apply if you have standing above -600 with the faction that controls the sector.

Ya, I hadn't considered the faction aspect of the problem. I know the devs hate the problems with the system as much as we do. They'll get it done.
Thats exactly whats going on Beolach. Its on the BP missions I'm having the trouble. Also the [ ] keys cycle thru targets , but when my buddy calls out he's on target A and my nearest enemy is B , I hafta cycle thru every piece of Ice, asteroids and Cargo before I come to his target , or hit the sector tab and use the mouse to point and click a target . The target next enemy key is pretty standard on all Flight sims and space sims I've played .
Simple solution, use "z" (Target enemy directly in front of you). Just point your ship at your enemy and press "z". Or you can press "u" and manually select your target.
Those are workarounds, not solutions, DragonEmpire. Pressing "u" and selecting off the sector list is time consuming, and "z" to RadarNextFrontEnemy is every bit as susceptible to thinking friends are enemies as pressing "x" for RadarNextNearestEnemy is.
Indeed, this is a real problem. I don't think it should be too hard to fix, though, so we'll probably do it before we rewrite the whole faction system.
