evil bug-ship takes no damage from rockets
if you reach a max speed (around 190) then if you get hit with rockets, you go Past the splash damage, and take nothing. with a rev-c or a courvus vult, if you know player A has rockets, and you have energy, you can ram him with your nuet mk II's and you wont take anything.
I don't think this is a bug, it's a valid tactic. One that's very hard to do - impossible if the player using rockets doesn't let you.
Zamzx zik, Rockets won't go off within a certain proximity of the ship that launched them. Unless you WANT to hit your own rocket's splash damage..... Which isn't too hard. Bein at a speed of 190 doesn't matter though.
It's true that, at high speeds, you can avoid serious splash damage. A face full of rocket is a different story. I'm not sure this would be a bug, either. Exploiting this reliably would be prohibitively dificult.
but, it takes quite a bit out of gameplay, I can't get someone to chase me at high speeds, then dump a load of flares before they can move out of the way.
You can, but you have to get a further lead, so you have time to turn around before they close with you. And the further the lead you have, the more time they will have to stop turboing after you, and start strafing to dodge your rockets. So that tactic, while viable, is difficult to pull off unless your opponent makes a mistake.
But look at it from the Cent or Vult's side: there's two tactics that they can try, either keep their distance, so that they have time to dodge your rockets, or else try to close to within the safety range. If they can close to within the safety range, then they will be able to land more of their shots - but I can assure you, it's very difficult to get within and stay within the safety range of rockets. If they stay far enough out to have enough time to dodge the rockets, then the rocket ship will also be able to dodge their energy.
This is what rockets do: they encourage longer distance fights, because it's safer for both parties. Get too close, the rockets are at a disadvantage, so the rocket pilot isn't going to let the energy pilot get that close. Mid-range, the rockets get a big advantage, because with their prox they will detonate, even when they wouldn't have physically hit. So the energy pilot isn't going to stay in the mid-range.
