I was hunting down hive mining groups for fun just now, and I noticed something interesting. When I killed an Orun Collector, its Valent A-47 escorts ran away. As soon as their charge died, they ran. That seems counterproductive to me...

Was this on the test server? If so and it was a settlement, I think you'll find the escorts returned to the stronghold to reinforce it's defenses as their mission had failed.
