Just to clarify something here, "bureaucrat" is an administrative role on some wiki platforms. It has nothing to do with trying to take control of anything.
Founder has equal rights as all other bureaucrats. There is no real "owning" or "controlling" this wikia. Its all player contributed and owned.
@NarWalrusWarrior in the United States everything is copyrighted as it is created. There is no need to to make a visible mark.
BUT Spence is Canadian based I believe, so their laws are probably different (I did a quick search on the googles, and it seems the laws are similar. No need to register a work, the work is copyright instantly, no need for it to be marked as such, etc etc. But there is one page that mentions that facts can't be copyrighted. And of course because VO-Wiki is a collaborative effort with contributors from many counties, , i have no idea how copyright works in this instance. Some of the VOers who are lawyers probably need to chime in now. lol )
Edit: The only mention of copyright/liscense i can find is from this page: http://vo-wiki.com/wiki/Vendetta_Wiki_talk:Copyrights . In 2008 someone asked if they should slap a Creative Commons license on the wiki. But it was never done. So as far as I can tell, it has none, which means it falls under standard copyright laws.

"Rin and blaqk seem to be in"
I'm not sure how you reached that conclusion, but you are mistaken. Maybe I was too polite, or maybe you confused me with somebody else. To be absolutely clear, I am Rin, and I am not in favor of this endeavor. I would prefer to see improvements to vo-wiki.com, and failing that, I'd rather the replacement not be Wikia. They're better than no wiki at all, but their ads and attempts to get you to visit other wikis are annoying. The existing vo-wiki does not have those problems.
I'm also not convinced that having it as a backup doesn't do more harm than good. Having multiple wikis means each wiki ends up with fewer hands maintaining it.

@NarWalrusWarrior
A big part of the problem here is that you jumped headfirst into it and insisted on doing it your way without first taking a fucking pulse of the community and seeing what others think. Heaps and heaps of your assumptions about vo-wiki are factually wrong and you didn't bother to check.
Just take a deep breath and step back for a bit.

Shame on you NarWalrusWarrior for being so passionate about VO! How dare you spend your own precious time to try to improve the wiki for a game you enjoy!
Jesus people.
"I agree with the others, why replace something old when it works perfectly fine."
Because progress. You can keep your old flip phone and I'll be over here watching a Mars Ted Talk with my Google cranial implant while I talk to my friend in 360ยบ 4D video conferencing about how it's so crazy VO is still running.

You call getting visually raped by ads and trends "progress," greenwall?
Greenwall, what progress is being made here? How does a competing wiki serve the community? Have you researched wikia.com at all? Apparently in the past few months their ads have been linking to scam sites, and exploitative websites. So if scaming users of VO is progress, I don't want any part of that. I'll continue to support and work on VO-Wiki.com like many before me have.
If the community decides there is a really good reason to change platforms from what is currently used for the wiki, i hope a good search is done. That way the community can feel safe with the choice.
I don't mean to be so negative about this, but both greenwall and NarWalrus are talking in very general terms, and it is frustrating. Progress for the sake of progress is an inane idea. Give me some good reasons. If NarWalrus had started a thread which outlined the reasons we need a new wiki, and the post gave specifics, my attitude would be much different. Because then, we could try to address the "critical" issues as well as have a healthy debate.
Instead, we have this.

You might want to check to see if it is copyrighted.

Canadian copyright expert here: the info copied over is fine, there are no glaring infringements upon a cursory inspection of the details. That said...
I don't see how this benefits the Vendetta community, and it seems as though its a megalomaniacal maneuver more than anything else.

-1 to a new wiki.
We have an established wiki. Work on that one if you truly care about VO as a community. If, however, you're a narcissist or power-monger, I'm sure you'll find your own space necessary.

My brain cannot stand the stupidity of this thread. Where is the asshat picture when you need it.
Hahaha...pathetic.
I would stipulate that it's only progress if it's an improvement. NarWalrus has proposed that the new site offers better options to aid improvement, so who gives a fuck if he runs with it and tries to make it better? Let him try. And if you hate it there is always spence's site. Over react much?
It'd be cool if everyone could tone it down a bit. The guy is just trying to start a project and involve others. If you think his intentions are not in the right place or you just like the current wiki (as I do), don't help him out. I prefer the current wiki, so I'll stick with that one, but I appreciate that he's giving a go at building more places on the web to check out VO stuff. As with most open source stuff, the creme rises to the top.
Also, I'm moving this to community projects. That is clearly the best place for this thread.

Greenwall, the problem is, what he proposes is not an improvement.
Due to the platform he wishes to use, it is in fact a step back.

You could completely ignore Nar's wikia and your lives will go on unchanged. It might drop into the wastebin of destiny, or it might quietly become an excellent alternative. Either way, the old wiki is still there, nobody working on the old wiki is being forced away, no dev resources are being expended, and life goes on. No need to tear down people who come in with enthusiasm for VO.
+1 to Whistler and Nihilus's voices of reason here.
Such drama over something you CHOOSE to feel affected by! Much wow!

Use it or not, soon it will have multitudes of new information as compared to the old wiki.
And in any case, I never asked if you wanted it or not. I evidently don't care. I'm asking for mods and helpers, and if you dont have something to say about one of those two things, I blatantly don't care. If you want mod or help, say so. If you don't, shut up- and deal with the old, outdated wiki format, which has information which hasn't been updated in years.
