really whitch is better, hyper energy rifle of beam gattling?
So will this cow society turn into an absolute dictatorship and eventually be turned back to the humans, eh?
It depends. Can we eat the cows?
Hoax, when did Star Blazers come out?

In the 70's I think, but it didn't really get rolling in the US until the 80's
All anime since is just a poor rip off including the stuff that was made before it, except Akira which steals mostly from Voltron.
Hey!! The devs should make 5 Voltron ships that can link together. I can't wait to see Serco and Itani's Voltrons fight!
Form Blazing Sword!

Wha... What in the hell are you talking about? Akira a rip off of Voltron? And if you're saying all anime since the 70's is bad, you're absolutely insane...
aggggghhh NOOO bloody Scrappy Doo should be strapped to an Avalon torpedo and fired into the nearest star.
He wasted a perfectly good cartoon.
/me wonders if anyone remembers 'Battle Of The Planets'

Don't forget "Speed Racer" (AKA: "Mach Go Go Go") in 1966 (1967 in English). That's the earliest manga/anime I can recall on US TV
I loved Chip and Dale when I was small. Course, there were a lot of chipmunks around the house outside, so they were easily my favorite animal other than cats at that age. Pinky and the Brain kicked major ass. Thanks Lem for putting up the lyrics.
Sometimes
Some crimes
Go slippin' through the cracks
but these two
Gumshoes
Are pickin' up the slack
There's no case too big no case too small
when you need help just call
CHIP CHIP CHIP CHIP AND DALE'S, RESCUE RANGERS
CHIP CHIP CHIP CHIP AND DALE'S, they're no strangers.
No no they never fail to *something* *something*
and somehow whatever's wrong gets solved
CHIP CHIP CHIP CHIP AND DALE'S, RESCUE RANGERS
CHIP CHIP CHIP CHIP AND DALE'S!
^From memory!^ Sad no?

Yeah.... sad... :P
>Akira a rip off of Voltron?
Don't you remember when Tetsuo turns into the big robot and chases Kai and Kanaeda?

If I'm crazy it's Dragon Ball Zucks that caused it. Here, I put up a couple screen shots to illustrate my point, this should quell any remaining difference of opinion:

Ah, yes, it makes perfect sense now!
By the way, just because the Dragonball sequels all suck, doesn't mean that all anime since the 70's is bad...

indeed. although i go for anime movies rather than series, i think there are quite a few good anime even since the "good old times". plus the animation evolved since then, although i agree that eyecandy alone does not make a good movie.
by the way, tex avery made some pretty good cartoons, too... i wonder why noone mentioned them here

Well, I was just trolling in case that wasn't obvious. I like lots of bad anime too. I'm serious about Akira and Voltron though.
Tex Avery is different, those are like 7 minute cartoons aren't they? Isn't he like a warner brothers guy? Oh never mind (/me googles). Droopy dog and that Wolf, I never liked Droopy too well, I do like the wierd squirell.
FM, I watched Speed Racer as a little kid. It always bugged me that the monograms on thier clothes didn't match any initials in thier names. Of course I didn't know it was a Japanese cartoon.

Dragging this thread back onto the original topic of this off topic post...
The leader of the cow revolution must be a hermaphrodite because male cows (read bulls) do not have udders. The narrator of our story repeatedly refers to this leader as "he/him". The cartoonist must have been doodling through biology class.

Indeed, Avery is different by far. Which cartoons you like is a matter of taste, of course, but he had a different approach to things than the Warner Bros. crew.
I mean, to put Red Riding Hood as a Night Club dancer in a quite revealing body etc... On a sidenote: he almost got censored.

And all sung to the tune (EDIT: that is very reminisent) of Jimmy Dean's hit song "Big Bad John"

you sure about that? i thought it was this (approximately):
http://www.mixed-up.com/lyrics/round/show.html?name=hey-daddy
http://www.mixed-up.com/lyrics/round/show.html?name=hey-daddy
EDIT: Originally thought that it was sung to the tune of "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" due to the way the lyrics flowed, it isn't. Music for "Daddy" is all wrong but looks like the lyrics to "Daddy" would almost work with "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" . It doesn't seem (to me) that "Daddy" is even close to the style of "Cows with Guns" musically.

EDIT: While "Cows with Guns" may not be a direct copy of "Big Bad John" music wise, it does seem to pay homage to it. It's style and phrasing is very similar.
