When I say 3.5 I mean 3.3.5 I use just the last 2 digits since the first one hasent changed for a while, when the first 3 changes then I will start using the full 3 space number.

Ah, I still remember the time as newbie.523589 (or something) and spend 50 million flying around with a homing rag beeing killed over, and over, and over again... good thing I won the lotto twice ;)

AHHH the good old days... why yes, I remember them like they were yesterday. Why in MY DAY, 1 million credits MEANT something. :) Why in MY DAY, we only had one rocket per ship and one energy weapon per ship and we LIKED IT! Why in MY DAY, I remember the BEST trade route was 9 - 4 and back again. Why in MY DAY, I remember chasing Private Pile for his 20+K bounty and watching him LOSE it when he ran into a roid! (HEHE STILL one of my more favorite memories!)

AHH Yes... that reminds of the day when the bank was impersonated! :) (And I did a fine job of it too IMNSHO even though I NEVER accepted a single credit from ANYONE. Hehe.)

BANK IMPERSONATOR!! So the truth comes out MUAHAHHAHA

BAN BAN BAN!!!

WAAHHHHHH GUILDY HE TOOK MY BANKY....

Jan 12, 2004 furball link
Aye that they were...

/me remembers the 1,000th flag cap by one nation too. Yes, how many people can say they were here for that ehh?
Jan 12, 2004 Sheean link
Uhh.. 1 million still means something, don't know about you. But there are not an awfull amount of people who think of 1 million as 'easly dissposible' ..you should have said it before the reset, then you'd be right ;)
Jan 12, 2004 furball link
uhh Sheean... if you had played during the 3.1 days, you'd REALIZE and KNOW what 1 mil credits meant. There are a LOT MORE millionaires now ingame than there were in the 3.1 days. And it was 100x more difficult to make 1 mil in credits cause the net profit per widget was a LOT LOT lower and as I recall, we only had a max of 12 cargo spaces. (Or was it 10? I forget.)

Hmm... /me feels a big newb again :P
Jan 12, 2004 Celkan link
12, fur
the heavy ship was a 12-cargo ship.

When I joined vendetta, I RARELY got above 100k. Right now it is about 1 version 3.0 credit = 1000 now credits.

In 3.1, money was incredibly hard to come by, but everything was cheap. Yes, I never had more than 100,000c until FM gave me 50k and I went on a 9-4 trading spree. However, a fully loaded centurion/vulture/hornet cost about 4000c, so w/e.

In MY day, we could all dock anywhere, including the red almost-homesector 5 (which is now a Totally Different Sector). Ahh, I remember capping red from 5, where it was only a 10 second boost back into 2...

This appears to have become the "Reasons" thread, slightly repackaged.

Whoohoo, I'm remembered as a vet!
Jan 12, 2004 Urza link
BAck in the day of tough men, good pilots, and epic duels, money ment something. FM was the first guy to ever have 1 million legit credits.

I dont think more than 10 people ever got over 1 mill in the good ol days.
Jan 12, 2004 mcnut link
am I a veteran?

I hate to burst people's bubbles, but dont get nistalgic on me. The "good ole days" were just that, good old days. Dont regress and lose sight of the situation the galaxy is in now. We need people who are willing to remember the past without living in it again. We need those people to help set the galaxy right again. Now I came around during the fall from greatness so I never expierenced the Golden Days but I gather they were greater by far than the greatest time during the "collapse" so we need to bring it back up to that level of player by destroying those who would see the galaxy burn before them merely to make a buck. Please let those who remeber come back and set right the galaxy before it collapses into Anarchy.

PS: I dunno McNut, I'd go ask around ingame to see if people consider you a vet.

What the hell are you talking about?
Jan 12, 2004 Suicidal Lemming link
The good old days were good because back then we didn't have a ratio of 10 griefers and/or pirates to every trader. Back then the game was balanced, because there were no special ships, the only differences were the shapes of the ships.

(post cleaned up!)
