Lifelong mac user who recently decided to do a PC build off a custom painted Maingear case that was on fleabay for cheap...made me appreciate the surprising value that existed in my old 2012 27" iMac.

Case: Maingear Shift

MB: Rampage V Extreme

CPU: i7 6800k @ 4.125GHz

Cooling: Maingear EPIC 180 closed loop liquid

Ram: 16Gb Kingston HyperX Predator 3000 (15-15-15-34 T1)

PSU: Corsair AX860i

Storage: Samsung 960 EVO M.2 500Gb (boot/games), 3Tb HDD

Nice monitor Lecter. You see the new one that Asus showed at CES? 240Hz.. bet that's over $1,000.

You like G-Sync? Never tried it yet.
Jan 10, 2017 Dr. Lecter link
Ha, didn't see that one but did see a little about their 27" 4K/144Hz unit. Not sure WTF is supposed to crank out frames for that, though. My 1070 wouldn't even break 60 at high settings with that resolution; GTX 1080 would be better but still not even close to maintaining 144fps at 4K. There's SLI, but surprisingly few games make use of it well and even when they do the scaling is dogshit.

G-Sync is nice in that it allows me to get the best framerate my card can sustain, rather than only 60Hz if I can't sustain 120Hz/144Hz/165Hz. Hard to say if it's worth the NVDIA premium over AMD's Freesync, which apparently does the same thing. I think I'm likely to get a 1080 Ti once they're finally out...that might let me play consistently at 144fps ;)

Alright blaqk I was joking but I see you're actually serious xDDDD

In any case:

Cpu: I3-4160
Gpu: R7 360

My psu and motherboard are basically only things I bought cause they had the right sockets and were cheap xD

I also have no clue what they are cause I built the pc a year ago hehe

2 x Intel Xeon E5-1620 v4 @ 3.5Ghz
128GB DDR4-2400
256 GB SSD (OS) + 5 x 2TB SAS drives in raid 5
2 x 700 W 90% efficient, wide-ranging, active PFC PSU's
2 x NVIDIA Quadro M1000M (Not the best choice for gaming but meh, I didn't buy it for gaming.)

I mainly use it for work, but it does see a lot of VO time too. Well, when I'm not on my craptop that is.

What the fuck do you need SO MUCH RAM for, yoda? Running like 30 VMs?
Jan 12, 2017 yodaofborg link
It was a want, not a need. To be honest I think I've only ever topped it out at about 16ish GB when video editing, heh
