I wonder how their "unique twitch-based combat system" is unlike what we have here...

I'm moving this to Off Topic, because it's not pertaining to VO, and because it's essentially free advertising for a direct competitor (regardless of the purpose for posting) at a rather sensitive time.

Holy christ, is every other game on the planet trying to drive me away with their horribly designed and uninformative websites, or is this some sort of coincidence?

I know...

Jumpgate Evolution needs to get its act together ASAP.... and realize there's more of a gaming market than just for Windows!

Also, the site says little about the game, and I'm fine with this one.

I found it annoying to wait for the various screens to load for Jump Jump Revolution, but I did find this interesting: http://www.jumpgateevolution.com/features.php

Sounds very much like VO - we could change the screenies and there'd be virtually no difference. Yes, VO lacks a few features, but on the other hand it's live now.

Beta has not started yet. I have a slot in the closed beta, so I think I'd know if it had started xD

As far as the differences between JGE and VO, we'll see. My stance though is that I've played VO to death, I haven't played the JG series. Sad, but true.

Also sad but true is I've heard "Sonn(tm)" to death from these forums, but not from JGE, since it's (as pointed out) in development.

:\

Vendetta is still in development (as pointed out), but to each their own. I'm mostly here for the community and the devs, otherwise I would have become bored with any game by now.

I only left Vendetta because there isnt much Content atm.

Been playing Star Sonata.

As soon as VO introduces pilotable Tridents or 2-3 man fighters then i will be back in, because SS doesnt have that.

a unique mission generator capable of generating thousands of fresh and immersive missions for players to embark on.

Now there's an idea!

It only takes a few variables to allow for thousands of technically unique combinations. It's a good idea, but not as good as it sounds initially.

"Jump Jump Evolution" - I lol'ed.

I think what I found most amusing was how JGE is advertising that they're using a twitch-combat system... and yet they're in third-person, judging by all the screenshots and videos.

Something tells me this is going to fail hard and fast... third-person views don't work very well with twitch in full three-dimensional perspective...

It worked in Donkey-Kong!... wait that was only 2D.
Jul 15, 2008 moldyman link
They're in third person because they're still working on the HUD design. It will have a first person view.

Well, I see JGE isn't falling far behind VO in the field of idiots-with-stupid-criticisms-arguing-with-fanboi-idiots.

Third person works ok with racing games, that's it.

i've played the independence war series in third person view, the big difference is you're flying things that move like moths loaded with swarms. it can work, but not with mouse steering, only with joysticks or playstation 2 style controllers.
