I got the go ahead, that posting some project stuff was no big deal, besides any ENB players would know about this project in an out so it really makes no difference.

This frist bit is a couple ships for a race called the Nasha'vu, up in the right hand corner of course is our logo, done by me, and made extrememly small for no reason at all..... Wonder what I was thinking then... must of been the Denis Leary playing in the background.

Remember this is all work for a open source game, probably not going to be anywhere near shelves until about maybe 2009-2010, None of us work for any money, just kinda a pet project between a couple of programmers and artists.

Becuase you've already seen a small logo in the image above, you might as well see the full one.

And the web layout which probably wont be up until sometime early next year.

Heres also the quick things I did as a suugestion for vendetta awhile back

Thanks for looking
Chikira.

Oh yes I've also renewed my attempts at designing a vendetta site, the older one I may use as a fan site later on down the line.

Edit: also if anyone knows the exsact pixel size for the front page/ forum page please post it, it would be most helpful as all im going to be doing is rebuilding a layout in the exsact same position as the current one, that way all the devs really have to do is replace the images.

Your hand drawn images seem very "totemic." That is to say they are somewhat
reminiscent of north-western Native American art. I would like to see them finished
with detail equal to your astronomical art, which I like a great deal. Good work.

Well... there is the shoe... lol.

Thanks for the complament, hopefully ill get around to completing a completely detailed hand done piece this year, perhaps some vendetta fan art?

Just in case other folks are interested, you can make some nice planets, etc with Flaming Pear's LunarCell software as well, plus it's fun to play with. Anyone who has Photoshop or another image-edting program can make similar stuff. Download the plugins here:
http://www.furbo-filters.com/lunarcell.html
$25 shareware for LunarCell. $40 for a set of filters. Support yer independent programmer and PAY for Shareware.

I did this in about 3 minutes:

Oh, and I second RattMann's sentiments. Chikira, your artwork has a very interesting style to it - I like your ships and your space-horse much better than the shoe and the standard art projects that you'll do in high school. They show far more character and thought. The planets are far more "finished" and "professional", but ultimately less interesting to me.

My advice to you is: Try not to get stuck doing the "boilerplate" projects that everyone does in art class: drawing shoes or crumpled-up pieces of paper. Or blind contour-drawing your left hand. Or sketching a still life.

I suggest that you try some scratchboard. Scratchboard forces you to think from dark to light instead of light to dark. (You "scratch" away a black coating from a piece of bristol board or masonite.) You can get some very very nice effects with scratchboard, and it leads to engraving, which I think would suit your artistic style. Check out Albrecht Dürer's work, who did some nice woodcut engravings: http://camel2.conncoll.edu/visual/Durer-prints/smallpass1.html
Or perhaps some of M.C. Escher's engraving work.

Ill be honest here, the art projects in class actually do bore me, id be much happier learning more about figure drawing and anatomy to tell the truth. I might look into investing 65 dollars tog et that software, and use the random planets as a base for actual the actual painting and polishing of the piece.

Im not to sure about the engraving side of things, doesnt really attract me to much, but it does seem to give very good results. However I do think i'll enjoy myself a bit more doing concept art, and to a certain point, modeling, a trade which im currently self teaching myself in just as I did with Graphic Design in Photoshop cs.

And just as a shameless bit of self glory i'll be glad to say I actually sat down and cracked off about 4 levels on vendetta last night.

Im now currently standing at 4 *up 1*/ 4/ 3 *up 1* /9 *up 1* /7 *up 1*

Hi there!
I have a question that's been bothering me for a good month now, and I simply have to ask it, so might as well get it out of the way now, before later, eh?
Here it comes, get yourself ready:

Did you really come here for "critizism"(sic), or for other, ulterior reasons, such as, for example, a few free pats on the back for your stunning art skills from a clueless community? I've seen both often enough in places far removed, and I think I can help you, in either case.

Nice work Chikira.

Lol maybe a bit of both. Nah I honestly would like some critizism, maybe a rating from 1 to 5.
