Dear VO player base,
I would like to introduce myself as new Commander of The Guild of Free Traders, succeeding Ecka Estenk. Ecka remains in the guild and probably will assume a position of Council member.
I would like to thank Ecka for more than ten excellent years as TGFT Commander. I would also like to state my appreciation for his being my friend and mentor since I entered VO.
TGFT policies will be unchanged. We are a fun, active guild that does trade, mining, and manufacturing. We allow combat but do not require it. We do not allow piracy or nationalist gameplay, but otherwise, members do whatever they want. Our forum is at tgft.org.
Respectfully,
-- tsreknor

Sadly this in no way affects the continued slaughter of your members. Swapping one exploiter for another is not real change. Nice try but yet another epic fail at trying to fool the player base.
obliviouslys EDIT stills sellins TGFT prossessins fees... no changes... yous pais or we shooteds atts yous!
Tsreknor if anyone deserves that commander spot its you, sorry to hear that ecka man is steppin down though, its been good fights over the years :0. Hope all goes well in the future of vo! Congrats tsreknor!

Translation: we are still a vomit-inducing, distorted, twisted definition of a "neutral" guild that's more interested in raking in cash than being helpful and friendly.

Congratulations <3
I object to the results of this election! There was not a proper quorum, so the election is invalid.
This is nice to hear. I've always found tsreknor to be a rational decision maker. Congratulations and I look forward to see what the future holds for TGFT.
Congrats Tsreknor!
Congrats on your service, Ecka, and to tsreknor for taking the helm.
thank you for your service, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Now is not the time to talk about gun control.

tsreknor,
Can you shed some light on why your predecessor allowed TGFT members to bomb and destroy the war voys at Ukari A10, Ukari B-5 and Edras I2? As well as allowed them to attack CTC ships? These acts are very nationalist, and thus counter what you just stated. Will TGFT under your rule continue to allow this disgusting behavior?

Yes, I'll be happy to address that. It has been discussed at length within the guild.
When the devs implemented faction redux, it changed gameplay for TGFT Serco and Itani members in some important ways. One of these was the impossibility of obtaining Admired standing in both Serco and Itani space simultaneously. Our S/I members are therefore compelled to accept Hated standing in the opposite nation so they can buy the best ships in their own nation. We would like it otherwise, but hey, we play the game as we find it.
The upshot of this crucial point is that our S/I members are blockaded by war convoys of the opposite nation. We do not accept blockades. If our members could fly past the war convoys without being shot at, we would not touch them. But due to faction redux, we are compelled to clear the war convoys whenever they obstruct our gameplay as Free Traders. The same goes for CtC bots that accumulate at Bractus C-5 and Sedina L-2 when someone is running a shop at those stations. We cannot just sit and wait for the shop to log off if we want to use the station. Therefore, we must clear the swarm of bots by shooting them.
Yes, we understand that friendly nationalist guilds do not like our doing this. Our answer has to be that we have no choice. We'll listen to a good suggestion if anyone has one. Devs, are you listening? If you can modify faction redux in some way, we might be able to change this policy.

Or you could just ya know, run away. Ya'll have always been good at that. If the fighters of said blockades actually attacked people you may be able to use that as an excuse, but even a gauss loaded XC can outrun them "blockade" ships.
As for the CtC bots you are probably doing the universe a favour by eradicating them, as long as you are telling the truth about it only being the left behind escorts and not actual transport bots. I am un-aware of any shops that operate out of Sedina L-2 or Bractus C-5 though, it is usually a TGFT player AFK that actually causes the build up in these sectors.
Not that I care about either of these activities, just pointing out the obvious flaws in your lies. And CtC stats do not lie.

Tsreknor,
Clearing war voys is an act of nationalism. Depending on which war voy TGFT tends to destroy the most, it is accurate to describe TGFT as an auxiliary military organisation supporting the opposite nation.
You could easily have chosen to adhere strictly to the principle of neutrality and nonparticipation in nationalist activity as opposed to the principle of 'not tolerating blockades'.
Because of this clear choice, TGFT cannot, and had never been able to, sustain any sort of justifiable claim to neutrality.
Congratulations on your inevitable succession of Ecka.
Espy.

I second TRS's comments. Having "Admired" status with one of a pair of warring nations IS NATIONALISM.
There is no issue with blockades for a genuinely neutral pilot (as it is for me). So long as TGFT continues allowing its members to maintain admired (or even respected, IMO) standing, I personally regard any claims of neutrality as a rather lame joke. Not that I care overly much, TGFT can be as nationalist as it likes for all the difference it makes to me, but I sure as hell don't regard TGFT as in any way neutral.
As for needing Admired status to get the best ships... deal with it. I do not get valks or proms, and choose not even to fly UIT "nationalist" vessels such as the UDV. Such is the price of ACTUAL neutrality.

"Psst, kid. I'll sell you a shiny Valk if you go kill my enemies."
"But I'm neutral in this conflict!"
"Yeah, but Valks are so sexy. Look at these curves. These bulbous protrusions. This pale complexion. It could be yours..."
"Oh, okay then. Wait here one moment while I go compromise my values."

Our S/I members are therefore compelled to accept Hated standing in the opposite nation so they can buy the best ships in their own nation.
The best ships for S/I are combat ships. Your guild is a trade guild. The only reasonable path for your members to take, is to be neutral with all nations, and then (as Faille Corvelle pointed out) the war voys won't attack. Also, since the sectors reset once all players leave, and the light ships don't attack unless attacked, your members who refuse to be neutral can easily pass by war voys. But nonetheless, even with reasonable alternatives, you insist on attacking the war voys.
