A message to all pilots,
Some time ago it seemed to me that the political landscape was one that a guild like [TRI] would not be able to thrive in. My thoughts were that instead of allowing the potential death spiral that I foresaw, I would change our agenda and move us into a different direction. At the time it seemed absolutely necessary to me, if we were going to continue to thrive as a guild, to provide different avenues of play for our members. Simply put, I was wrong. I openly admit this, and I apologize to all that were hurt by my actions. I meant no hard feelings towards anyone, and I was only looking to better the guild and give people more things to do. I realize now how wrong I really was.
Instead of living in the past, I am now choosing to move forward. We all must pick ourselves up from somewhere, and here and now is where we will start.
[TRI] officially declares a new mission statement that reflects the old values of neutrality, honor, and civility that we worked so hard to develop. We are bringing back the old [TRI] and the old ways. For a full reading of the mission statement check out our forums at http://tridentarmssyndicate.boards.net/thread/91/tri-mission-statement.
I know that there will be many pilots out there that are skeptical of our actions and more specifically, our motives. This is ok, and it does not discourage me. There have always been those that were skeptical of us and what we did. But we have always proven that we stand by our word and most importantly our policy of neutrality. We aren't looking to piss in anyone's cheerios. We are here to help others with their needs and get some fighting done in the process. Our actions will speak louder than my words here ever will.
I hope everyone is as excited as I am about [TRI]'s future. I'm looking forward to providing safe flights, good fights, and long nights to all pilots out there. See you all in space!

Yeah well people were always sceptical of TRI.. I mean.. I founded the guild.. so like.. you can't really blame them for being sceptical.
HAHA. Good point. But actually you created Trident Capital Manufacturing Group. I give create to Neon Black for our paving the foundation of our current structure. Although I'm sure you spit on the idea that Neon started [TRI]. LULZ. Too funny man. Glad to see you poking your head around here.
Fostering skepticism is only a virtue in hell.
I'm sorry but this just makes me chuckle. This is what happens when people take VO far too seriously with no life outside of it.
[post edited slightly by Phaserlight - actually, this is the kind of thing I'd like to see more of. Feel free to express opinions on the futility of it all, but do so with civility and under the appropriate guidelines when it comes to Role Playing]

Translation: we got uppity, actual pilots repeatedly handed us our fucking asses, and now we want to be 'neutral' again so people stop killing us so damn much.
Quite the opposite. I wanted to, but we never got uppity. I realized a little too late that this just wasn't what [TRI] would be good at because we are too casual of players.
No one has really been killing us because it has mostly just been me. If you're gonna make fun of us, it would go something more like this:
"Translation: we thought we wanted to get uppity, realized that we were too lazy to be uppity, and now we'd like to go back to doing what we were doing."
To say that neutrality doesn't exist in VO, is simply admitting that you don't want it to exist. The idea that true neutrality is impossible in VO has already been debunked. We've proven it once before and we will prove it again. Is it an easy road to walk? Absolutely not. But it can and will be done.

Neutrality in VO is and always has been possible to practice. What's not possible is preventing people from saying you aren't being neutral.
I completely agree. I only said that to point out where he was wrong for the record.
I think that fostering an atmosphere where skepticism and criticism is accepted and also welcomed is a good thing for growth and development. It has always helped in the past.

I have only good wishes for TRI, since the current guild landscape in VO is absolutely a horrifying thing to behold. Two sides in a toxic war where neither side is terribly active and only engages in half-hearted fights while the comments on 100 grow more embittered and pilots lose their will to care - this is what has festered for quite some time now.
I've spent a good year now guildless, trying to keep myself as far away from that plague that has been running rampant, and have been able to very much enjoy my fights across faction lines, as well as have been able to assist numerous pilots joining the game. I've even hosted several events quite successfully, despite being a solo pilot. My anti-guild feelings largely stem from the current two sides that I despise so much - the pilots, each individual once you get to know them are great pilots to fight and joke around with. Its only when older pilots get together that problems arise. And, with few exceptions, I don't know any younger pilot who cares about the old stalemate, not until they have been indoctrinated into the thick tar of history between the existing guilds that no longer seem like such imposing bastions of culture and ability.
Well, Nihilus has just spent a good 5 hours in Voice Chat with me, over on the TRI discord channel, trying to encourage me to join TRI as one of his Lts. One of his points, one that I trust he can reimplement and one that I myself found so entrancing, is that TRI was, and will once again be, a metaphorical "Eye in the storm"; a nuetral guild where pilots such as myself can enjoy camradie. Given how insistant Nihilus has been, despite my original predisposition against guilds in general, I have decided to accept Nihilus's offer and will join TRI. I hope to encourage such nuetrality and continue to foster new pilots into the game, and I hope my own experience in neutrality can be of benefit to TRI. I also ask any like minded pilots to join me in TRI, to help uphold this recaptured mission of such a historied guild.
TL; DR I'm joining TRI, but you should read the above anyways.

[TRI] welcomes Luxen as our new Lt! Having Luxen join was important to me for a ton of reasons. The most important is that he has an intuitive sense of what it takes to remain neutral in VO. He has also made it very clear that this is a very important priority of his as well. This is exactly what we need in a Lt.
I have offered the second Lt position to [TRI]'s former Lt, Xeha. He has neither confirmed nor denied this offer, but did mention that he would speak with the members of [SARC] about a possible merge of the guilds. I hope this happens, but in any event, I know that the members of [SARC] will make the decision that they see is best for them.

Unrelated, I know, but I felt a respose to the following was required:
"Fostering skepticism is only a virtue in hell." - Greenwall.
Soooo untrue. Skepticism IS a virtue, lest you want a society of slack-willed peons. People SHOULD think for themselves and question things, especially things said by those in positions of authority.
IMO, anyone claiming skepticism is a bad thing needs to be VERY thoroughly scrutinised. There is always a reason these folks don't wan't you looking too closely at something...
So, Greenwall... What are YOU hiding???

yay
I see what you are saying Faille, and I agree to a certain extent. Perhaps I could have worded it better.
Nevertheless, the context under which my statement here was operating was in regard to fostering doubt for the sake of confusion, malice, or ill intent. TRS is proud of the trail of destruction and confusion left in his wake; a display of inverted morality where bad things are actually perceived as good.

Note that, while I can't deny his claims of founding the original TRI, I've attempted to draw some distance between the way TRI was started and the way that Neon taught me about TRI. These two things rarely overlap.
I don't foster skepticism in an effort to cause confusion. In fact, I welcome the doubt and questioning as a way for us to better explain and prove ourselves.

Not strictly accurate, mostly i'm just proud that you still can't stand to think about me. It tickles me so!
You guys know I still play this game on 4 different alts right? I'm still in the TGFT council forums even though they've shuffled them around a fair wack! Cork hats ahoy!

From Trident "Freedom of the Seas" Captain Cincinnatus:
I was inspired by my reading of TRIs new Commanders Intent and by Luxens estimation of the stale and toxic culture that pervades VO. I am hopeful they will by example be able to inspire a new culture in VO. To that end I stand ready to abandon the associations of my past and emark upon this new experiment. I look forward to communicating along these lines in game.

Depends what yer idea of neutral is i guess. Neutral from non-existent nationalism? Neutral from inter-guild piss fighting? If shooting everyone is neutral, then count me in.
Cincinnatus:
It means a lot to us for such an experienced player such as yourself to recognize our sincerity and choose to help us build our new future. We will not disappoint you! I look forward to continuing our discussions in game, but for the meantime, anyone can request an invite to [TRI] if you see Nihilus online. The command to do it is simple:
/msg Nihilus /invite "Player Name"
This will send an invite to whoever "Player Name" is. And the beauty of this is that anyone can send this command to have an invite sent to anyone else. There are no restrictions or limitations to joining. I will say, however, as easy as it is to join, it is as easy to get kicked. Once kicked you will find it much more difficult to join. I don't mean this directed towards you, but since others will be reading this I thought I might mention it.
Dirty:
We spelled out our idea of neutrality pretty well here: http://tridentarmssyndicate.boards.net/thread/91/tri-mission-statement
But to go into more detail, being neutral in VO applies to all forms of conflict. This means that when it comes to pvp we only engage in consensual forms. And specifically, I am referring to the consent of the pilots that we are fighting against. We are allowed to defend ourselves, which could technically be considered non-consensual pvp. But by attacking us, we assume that our opponent has now made it clear that he consents to be shot back.
So, to use a variation of your words, we shoot only those who want us to shoot them.
