seeing that the process of infiltrating guilds takes much effort, time and funds, i am abandoning the project.
most of the objectives of the guild are already being accomplished by a different group, thus making guild infiltration the only goal, and for this i'd need more members (which i don't have). furthermore, i have been justly advised that naming a guild after a terrorist group might not be advisable, especially with the current events world-wide.
therefore, i have chosen to rename the guild, and also redefine its purposes.
it will now be called
"Corps Diplomatique"
and it is meant to be a crossnation/-faction guild (that part is actually very important).
the objectives are to limit grieving and other unnecessary acts.
much like today's diplomats it's not only weapon's power we want to rely on, but rather negotiating with nations, factions and guilds.
this does NOT exclude the use of weaponry should other methods fail. because of that, CD members are required to be able to at least defend themselves in combat.
all who have equal goals can join the guild, just report to me, so i can get a list of the guild chars you will have. so far, it will be up to me to decide who is to enter (if anyone applies).
the tag is optional, but recommended. there will be no hierarchy within the guild, it's a basic democracy. new members have to get at least a 50% majority of the guild members to vouch and vote for them.
i will see to it that a forum is created so we can discuss matters.
thank you for your attention.
The Diplomats want YOU!

How do you negotiate with griefers? What are the "unnecessary acts?" If you mean to be saying that you'll coordinate with such vigilante groups as the DS Guild to provide near-constant coverage of a majority of sectors, I'm all for it. But respectfully (or disrespectfully) asking a griefer to lay down his weapons and stand down will only resort in more blood shed.
Look at the current situation today. The U.N. in 11 years never accomplished anything in Iraq, despite the 15 resolutions issued against the rogue country. The US went in, and in 2 weeks ousted Saddam.
US = DS
UN = CD
I hope that's not the case, but the only language that griefers understand is death, loss of money, and humiliation.

Um. I won't respond to you because I don't want to talk politics. But I'm gonna say that your analogy is very bad.
As for negotiation, well, the VPAI's done it. I've paid off two or three imperialists in our heyday, and it worked too. I got Phoenix out of 9 for a whole day once... Aah, back when 100kc was a lot...

Paying them off? They'll see that you have a price and can be bought. This will lead to an abuse of power, and will only fund their escapades instead of discouraging them.
hehehe...yeah...i've been "Encouraged" a few too many times....
hmm... IMO, the analogy is flawed, too.
anyway. my plan actually IS negotiating with other guilds and/or players who intend to minimize griefing and all-out war (not sector wars, but wars for territory/superiority, if they'll ever be introduced), to provide with the necessary respect and pressure in diplomatic negotiations.

Sounds good, we'll be compatible. :)
Look forward to flying with you.

My suspicion is that he changed the name and made a phony mission state so he can get these "diplomats" into as many guilds as he can in the form of sleeper agents, whom he then activates to destroy the guild and cause havoc.
lol....sounds like it to me, either that or you are just paranoid :P

That is not part of the CD's agenda. With this post you openly accuse me of being not true to my word, which in real life I would tax as grave insult. In all nicety i ask you to refrain from this kind of verbal attacks, unless you wanted to be marked as persona non grata.
Also, I would like to make it clear, once and for all, that the guild named Red Army Faction has been disbanded completely (which was easy, seeing that I was the only member of said guild). Anyone (including me) using the guild's tag, or works towards the same goals as the R.A.F. did, does so without consent of the former guildmaster and thus of the (now inexistent) guild.

Royal Air Force? :P

You create a guild with the intent of sneaking into and destroying other guilds, announce it, then expect us to believe that your intentions are all honorable? You expect too much.
In reply to RL's post:
Fine. I understand your point of view and respect it. I will have to convince you by action, then.

RL, I'll vouch for tosh. He first told me the idea in teamchat. There would be no reason for deception here. Besides, the only reason he really had the r.a.f. was for defense.
I know tosh's intentions are honorable, but I cant see this working until the test has real politics in it.
thanks for vouching for me.
dave, you're right, i am just founding it now, contents will be added later on. i hope the faction system will justify the guild's existence.

So what you want is for every guild to have like a pet diplomat, which would act as a negotiator? And negotiations would take place CD-CD?
ideally, yes. but negotiations would be taken up with anyone who has the right to speak for an entire group.
the only problem i see right now is that the diplomatic immunity can't ge guaranteed/depends on the other side's goodwill.

Well if a guild member breaks faith and attacks the diplomat, the diplomat's guild takes the matter to the head of the other guild, and if the head of the other guild backs up his pilot, then the guild will fall out of favor in the legitimate guild community.
I may discuss it with you tosh, but I think we'll (the Aesir) stick to using our own. Tempest and I can handle this if necessary, considering my chars are in the diplomat's position already.
