Reasons for war with tgft

Aside from being the major trade guild. about a month back nation war was going on and faustino bashkirs joystick aparently broke during the middle of nation war and he was deemed "paused" from it Althoguh I had been eliminated I found this highly unfair to the play of the game as i myself have at various times hit capslock or had other unfortunate things happen during my nw experiances. I voiced my objections over channel 100 and when he was still deemed "unshootable" i returned to the sector and killed him to execute swift vo style justice with my blasters. Then the war with tgft slowly escalated.

oh also back when i was a wee newb ecka yelled at me for shooting tgft members and threatend to ban me from nation war cause i shot him while he was making money for nw prize money.

Matters not now. War is upon you. Prepare for more "unfortunate things."

I was not aware of the "pause" feature of vo. Is this unique to NW? and if so, would this not have put the "paused" player outside the scope of NW, making him a valid target for any passing pirate?

The NW is granted specific privileged access to grey, during the scheduled event, under negotiated terms. I am not aware of any privileges being extended outside of these terms, and threat of access to nation war to extort additions privileges could be considered a violation of contract.

If TGFT would please respond to these charges, either to deny them, justify them, or to offer remedy.

He could be paused from NW--not to be attacked by other participants for a set period--while still being part of the NW. For example, his explosion could have damaged another participant, as could peypey's fire, to say nothing of the distraction occasioned by peypey's highly irregular actions.

All to say, NW has discretion within the sector while it occurs. If a NW pilot strays too far from the roids, are they instantly fair game, Roda? Or can the NW host decide whether to expell, pause, or just ask them to get back into the fight?

I tend to agree that using access to NW to extort special privileges elsewhere raises troubling questions.

lecter:

Your point about the host having discretion within the sector may have merit. I would ask that the discretion be unilateral, and predictable.

Are you formally submitting an opinion that the "pause" was within the realm of acceptable host discretion?
May 12, 2009 Dr. Lecter link
I think it must be, otherwise drawing the lines about when a NW participant becomes "fair game" again gets very difficult. Essentially, unless they're authorizing a NW participant to diverge from the purpose of NW, the host's discretion must be absolute as to who in the sector is a NW participant (and therefore not "fair game") during the event itself. Clearly, the participant here was still interested in pursuing the purpose of NW: get his controls working and return to combat as directed by the host.

Calling a pause on a player who has indicated that they have a real control malfunction--rather than having been clumsy with their capslock key--seems entirely within the host's discretion as the "umpire" of the war. Just as the host can decide to eject or not to eject a player too far from the roids to be appropriate, the host can decide whether, in fairness, to allow a pause or not.

I express no opinion on this other issue, of using the privileges granted to hold the NW to extort special treatment as a condition of being allowed to participate.

If everyone will shut up with the speculation, i.e. Lecter, I will post logs.
May 12, 2009 Dr. Lecter link
Blacknet, logs would be helpful for the general issues, perhaps--but I'm discussing the different question of what NW conduct can be allowed while still adhering to the compact that allows NW to occur in Grey at all.

As the sole remaining Serco member fighting Niki, Breazle, and Fausti, I didn't even know Fausti was out of the fight. I was too busy dodging the gank-squad of Niki and Breazle in their terrible valks to notice what was being said, and I tried a couple times to fly over and shoot Fausti. He always ran away when I approached and I had to turn my attention back to not dying, and I didn't think twice about it because that's what the other two would do in most of the 1v1 situations as well. I didn't know until afterwards that he was having JS problems, and the only thing that distinguished him from the other two still alive was that he didn't join in the ganking. :P

Lecter, fine I will *NOT* post logs then, instead I will shut up and let you speculate as to what happened. While you are at it you can also host nation war and lets see how well you do at it.
May 12, 2009 Dr. Lecter link
You ever get tired of being the drama queen? It's pretty boring.

If you read what I wrote, I just noted I wasn't speculating about anything: Roda and I were discussing an issue of NW rules. Your logs aren't all that relevant to it, but are probably of interest on this issue more generally. Please, once you've taken your meds, feel free to post them.

blacknet:

my inquiry is to answer the charges against tgft by peytros as they may pertain to the negotiated conduct of nation war in grey space. if you have evidence pertinent to the matter, then by all means, please present it.

I recognize that lecter may have vested interest in the affairs of grey, and as such, I wish to consider his opinion. This is further compounded by my perception that lecter has an understanding of contractual agreements, and can express a defensible opinion.

I wish to reserve any final judgment on the matter until tgft has had appropriate opportunity to respond.

I think, though, they are declaring war on more than just TGFT. They are declaring war on everything.

I am quite annoyed at their moronic behavior, and I will just engage on sight.

This has all gotten far more attention than it deserves. I'm sorry I posted about it at all. /facepalm

HAWK is a waste of time. Let's not fan the flames anymore.

few quotes from Lecter on this matter.

"If you read what I wrote" OK I did and this is what I discovered.

"I just noted I wasn't speculating about anything"

"Your logs aren't all that relevant to it"

"He could be"

"his explosion could have "

"I think it must be,"

"within the host's discretion"

"I express no opinion on this other issue,"

Is this not speculation??

spec⋅u⋅la⋅tion [spek-yuh-ley-shuhn]
–noun
1. the contemplation or consideration of some subject: to engage in speculation on humanity's ultimate destiny.
2. a single instance or process of consideration.
3. a conclusion or opinion reached by such contemplation: These speculations are impossible to verify.
4. conjectural consideration of a matter; conjecture or surmise: a report based on speculation rather than facts.

I have to say this is speculation on most everything Lecter has said, also it's clear he does not want me to post logs here because they are not relevant. I also don't recall Lecter being present during NW nor in TGFT so I don't understand why he is even posting on this thread at all. I do want to clear this up and I have ask for further log entries on this matter.

When dealing with serious matters like this lets stick with nothing but the facts and leave out speculation and mud slinging.

Logs aside:

"I voiced my objections over channel 100 and when he was still deemed "unshootable" i returned to the sector and killed him to execute swift vo style justice with my blasters."

First:
Rules of NW as public broadcast prior to the event and with the adverts for nation war:
<Ecka Estenk> Rules for the Nation War:
<Ecka Estenk> As far as ships and weapons go, only 3 weapons are banned: Chaos and Locust Swarm missiles, and Lmines.
<Ecka Estenk> No running beyond the limits of the asteroid field, No camping 2000m from the roid field, No hiding within roids.
<Ecka Estenk> Once you are dead, you are out. You may return to watch in an EC class ship, but must announce this over sector comm.
<Ecka Estenk> Once you leave the sector you are out. This means no repairing at a station, no reloading and no jumping out to jump back in when your team wins.

to repeat, "ONCE YOU LEAVE THE SECTOR YOU ARE OUT". This is a clear violation of the rule by him coming back INTO the sector just to shoot Faust. Second one here is it MUST be in an EC class ship, he did not have an EC class ship.

Second: many leave 100 during nation war to cut down on the clutter, they are tied up with sector, group, guild and voice chat plus msg. Broadcasting this over 100 is just fail. It clearly states in the nation war rules broadcast you use sector coms *NOT* 100 for this. This is standard courtesy for those in the event.

Sighs.. blacknet, really.

okay, this thread has lost me... we all know peytros is an idiot who has employed himself as resident VO whiner. We know what he whines about is retarded. We know he does it to get attention. blacknet... after all these threads over the last few days... let's just leave HAWK with this:
[Stamp of Fail]
May 12, 2009 Dr. Lecter link
It's ok, blacknet, I won't correct you for being an idiot. I just feel sad you can't grasp the concept of largely unrelated discussions within a single forum; I'll try one last time and I'll use small, super-not-scary words.

Roda and I were discussing how a very narrow slice of the NW rules should be--a hypothetical discussion to which the logs of any past NW would be largely irrelevant.

There's also a discussion going on, different from what I was discussing with Roda, about what happened at the last NW, and that is something to which your logs would probably be relevant.

I know that holding even one topic in your mind a strain, so I'm not asking you to try and think about both at once; I just want to spoon-feed you the concept that both could be thought about at once. You might want to, uh, speculate about that one.

P.S. I actually was in TGFT.
May 12, 2009 peytros link
how is putting someone on "pause" not a violation of the rules" a host could just put someone on pause to keep them in the prize money if it was getting down to the wire.
May 12, 2009 Aticephyr link
Please clarify your arguments. Your reason for war and disrupting events is you don't like how an event was run?

Isn't that something of a "if you don't like the rules, don't play the game" sorta thing?

disclaimer: I was not there when the event took place. I'm also decently sure that if it were coming down to the wire that Event leaders would put the event itself "on pause" or w/e, instead of a specific player. Furthermore, as HAWK has invested zero capital in NW, the logic behind using this complaint as a means to instigate war is... lacking.
