There are only 2 current pirate guilds other than [GRU], and [SYN] is almost completely inactive. There may be other guilds claiming to be pirate guilds... I don't know of any though and on the principle that you keep a close eye on the competition: I think I'd know.

Ok... let me clarify one thing right here. The one rule is you become (act like) a pirate. And this means: become (or already are) a ruthless and fearsome PvPer for whom Profit is the ultimate criteria while still not becoming a dick.

If Annihilat0r or (anyone else) cannot follow that rule, they will be expelled. Simply being an alt of a player is not grounds for removal... if you can play your alts separately, it doesn't matter WHO you are the alt of.

Now, what is being a "dick?" That is up to the leadership (Council) to define ultimately. For now it is simply commonsense... there is no rule that says you cannot use swarms... but if you are constantly swarm-spamming? You are a dick. You can run sometimes... but if you run all the time? You are a dick. You can kill newbies (better to teach em a lesson and let 'em walk imho), but only kill newbies? Or kill the same newbie more than once or twice. Well... that'd be being a dick. Etc, etc.

We are mostly experienced players, we know how to play and have fun, and if your idea of fun is to make others miserable... you are a dick. This does not mean that everyone is going to be happy that we just blew them up and they now have to repeat some long haul bulk trip or something... But unless THEY are dicks, they will realize it is part of the game and ultimately adds enjoyment. If they don't? Fuck 'em.... but don't GRIEF (specific personal vendettas excepted) 'em... or you are deriving pleasure from another's suffering... and you are a dick.

I'd say he has a right to set some ground rules as a starting point when forming the guild. Nothing he put fourth is too unreasonable (though Lecter might disagree about the noobs)

hmmm... I was gonna reply to each of these posts in turn, but thought better of it.

Instead... how-bout you all get the fuck out of my thread? This is supposed to be a place for people to enquire about the guild, it's plans (as I seem them currently, not that these are "rules," ground or otherwise), and to apply if they so choose. If you feel the guild is a foolish idea, fine... if you have problems with me or my methods, fine... but obviously you are not interested in membership so take your inane commentary somewhere else.

At this point, there ISN'T a council (some current council are newbies, etc. The first nine founding members automatically become council, this is by no means the long-term form of the guild)... there are no LT's... I AM the only voice. The guild is 3 days old.

Oh yeah, one more thing... this seemed like a fun way to run a guild especially with the teaching angles... if it doesn't work? Oh well... it's a game, I'll get over it, quickly. If others have other ideas, and I am forced out of the guild I started... fine, I go back to solo pirating.

It's just a game regardless.

Hey. It was an honest question. Anyone can generalize about what makes a "dick", but an actual list of names really helps clarify the standard. Is Tumblemonster's opinion an example of the guild's position?
