Hummm.... I went the other way... started with keyboard/mouse, switched to my flight sim yoke (blech!)... and finally (like Martin) ended up with a dual stick setup... left throttle/accel/strafe/turbo, right three axis/fire/various radar/activate/etc.

It's taking me a bit to get used to it, though...

Galaxy Quest works, even with the dual-stick setup.

youll never get those required twitch reflexes with a joystick.

Well yeah, but with my ping who cares?

Quite frankly, this is a dead discussion, so my reply will never be seen. But I'm replying because I'm tired as getting beat by bots. Otherwise, I'd be in the game.

Anyhow...

I use a joystick with most of the buttons at the thumb and a trigger at the forefinger. I also use a nostromo speedpad (good for binds and other macro - type things) for strafing and throttle control (among other useful keys I always want handy). I was using the mouse, but the joystick is just more fun.

*jumps into this thread late*

In regard to Borb using trackpad and combat binds, I would like to say that I use both Trackpad and Mouse, though I tend to find myself using trackpad even if I have a mouse plugged in, simply because I hate moving the mouse around so much, and my other keys are so much closer to the 'pad. I also do NOT use combat binds. I'm a purist. :P

I don't handle TOO horribly with my little laptop keyboard.

Martin.mac.au you use 2 Joysticks? COOL! are they USB? Otherwise how the hell did you get them to work?

Offtopic: Everyone should look at the Ship design topic. In this Forum.

Hrm, anyone have any good dual-joystick setups? I've been testing out a gamepad, and it just isn't working out all that well.
