So does anybody know excatly when this will be released? Next saturday?
Incarnate said update on Monday.
To the veterans complaining about the standing system, let me just say this:
Not all of us have the time to do ten point trading missions in an hour's time.
The missions would be more challenging if there were some pirates actually doing their jobs.
The trading standings are there to get new players sucked into the game. The best ships are still out of reach for newbs. The more players there are, the better the game IMHO.

My humble opinion about that standing system [sorry for off-topic - I understand from the news that the Behemoth will be available anywhere]:
1) keep high-rewarding trade missions in terms of standing [edit: otherwise you end up with nervous breakdowns :) - ppl working days to obtain a ship that is nerfed just when they get it]
2) introduce a system of compensation between factions/nations (losing standing with X when gaining standing with Y)
3) reevaluate the high-risk activities vs easy ones, as the current system is broken in that respect (example: I gained a lot more Itani standing in two hours' destruction of Serco NPC than during last week's CtC deliveries O.O; another example: what is your nation reward when you claim a bounty?) [edit: that could be done with the trade missions as well with higher rewards if the route goes through UIT or grey]

Heh, powergamers always ruin balance. It seems the devs were tailoring the game towards people who played a little more casually than those with "30+ hour weeks" in game ( 0_0 ). I mean.. I play maybe an hour or two a day if I can find the time, so I usually do a CtC run or two and maybe a cargo mission for some cash. I sure as hell don't have time to sit there and get standsing up with 7 points per run, and even with the presnt system it would take a while for me to get anywhere.
I suspect that maybe the high trade levels of most of the powergamer types here are influencing how many points they get. The devs must have put it on some sort of sliding scale, and maybe the upper ranges of that scale give too much xp.

I don't play much vendetta theese days as I recently got more work to do.
Thus it takes me weeks to get anywhere in real-world time.
In-game it would take me a few hours to level up and get awesome standing, but I don't have "a few hours" a day.
Sometimes not even per week.
If it gets even harder to level up I might just go "screw it, I'll never get anywhere" and quit.
As it is now I feel it's going at an OK pace.
If I put som efort into it I'l be 10/10/10/10/10 soon enough.
Please, oh pretty please, don't make it any more of a treadmill than it allready is!

Sorry, I took a step back from the faction system in late alpha, I was never sure how it would work out (especially because at that time, a NT/Itani/Serco could shoot at you right outside a NT/Itani/Serco station and not be penalised, but yet if you returned fire, defbots joined in...) I actually tried to jump back on the band wagon of leveling things high, and found it boring, id rather spend my time shooting at stuff. And when im not so busy I do spend the time ingame to have Mills and Admired everywhere, and that was even before the guild trade missions, maybe the high end scale is too high, but trust me, not everyone can sit there for hours on end trading, even though thats pretty much all I did early alpha...
[Edit]
The other thing i did real early alpha was get in an argument about freedom of speech with a dev (which was obvoisly just a me drunk and on a bitchin spree =p), had i known he was a dev, i would have not said a word, i joined in with a troll, sorry, can my account info *signed up on* be corrected? its wrong, only reason i can think is this, but i didnt need to resign up at any time??....

Ok
I must first apologize for draging this thread off topic.
secondly, while I most assuredly agree that the old reputation gain was far too slow, the new one IS to fast.
if it only takes 2 hours to increase a faction to the point where you can get the ships (0-600), then anyone who sees a neat ship can have access to it shortly thereafter. While this is nice at first, I personally felt far more "rewarded" after gaining a ship under the old system.
What i would like to see is the reputation gain from trading scaled back significantly, and for more interesting ways of gaining reputation to be added, although i still would not wish to see the gains be as fast as they are now.
Maybe when we get more new and exciting missions this can be addressed again.

How can you do it in 2 hours? I sure can't. I don't have any level 9 Maurader to do it with either. Can you do it in 2 hours with level 4 non-faction ships? It took me about 5 or 6 hours to gain 400pts in axia. That's a lot of trading for me...
The scale might need to be bigger but it's not too easy; For me at least. Before the trade guild missions I was feeling like Demonen mentions above. The good stuff was pretty much out of reach.

/me apologises too...
Spell, sure, your points are valid, to someone who has been here ages...
Sure, if I wanted to I could be POS by now everywhere, but alas, i have a badge that says as much anyways, while I agree the guild missons give out a little too much right now, i'm thinking its more about scale, some of the longer missions give out insane xp, have you tried doing these missions in a bus?
[Edit]
Back on topic I hope, me cant wait to blow up his first beemer =p

AHHH!!!! When is the new ship comming. I hear sometime today? Will it actually be a reasonable time? please
heh if the devs are doing an update "today" i expect it will probably be at the same time all thier other updates occur, eg 3am "tomorrow" morning. (CST)
it said '7 days'.
if they are bringing the cap ship out tonight or tomorrow, someone will probably report an exploit, and they will have to scramble to fix it...
i dont expect the new cargo ship until after that!
ok
i have to admit that if i didnt have tunguska standing, then
it would take me several more hours to get high faction points than it does. those 112 crate procurement missions are only doable in 2 trips in a tunguska or valent marauder... and of course you have to do the old fashioned grunt work to get either of those 2 ships in the first place.
so i guess it would take longer than i think.
and the new ship we are talking about... the behemoth... i dont knwo how much cargo it can carry , but if they dont tweak the missions... then getting that ship will also alter the ability to gain faction...
oh my god its like this giant feedback loop.. .the better faction u get with certain corp the better ship you can get which can carry more cargo which can make it easier to get more faction which ....
dude my mind is blown
