The 'Behemoth' trading vessel from TPG. Should be around in the next 7 days.

Everyone, get your TPG standing up pronto!

Check the News tab in-game for more details.

and here is the primary reason i DISLIKE how fast it is to raise standing with a faction now.

with 7 days notice everyone (except a few who dropped thier tpg standing below -600) will be able to raise faction with plenty of time and get the ship, instead of being some cool new craft that gradually trickles into game as a few dedicated traders try it out.

I agree with Spellcast.

When you have low standing, you can raise it up in a few hours trading to admire. If you once reach high standing above +980 you have to work more for a single standingpoint as you had to do with the old mission system (my *personal* feeling). And once you reach +999 with one special faction you get nothing beside credits and trade xp.
The new mission system is imho not well balanced.

Well put Spellcast and Lin, it is very easy to raise your factions up, I have all 13 at 980 or higher, it took maybe 2 weeks. I was told I was crazy, but I belive in being ready for anything lol

Mmm. It'd be really funny if some other faction turned out to be the ones selling it (ie: TPG as an OEM, something like Orion as the seller). :P

Roguelazer probably has the right of it though it is more likey Aelous, Xang Xi, or Ineubus as I don't recall them having any faction specific ships to date.

Well the last new Maud was announced as a UIT Maud was it not? (Tung Maud) It also says in the news that both Serco and Itani have ordered thousands, so im guessing, seeing as how most ships are TPG produced ships, does not mean that only TPG sell them (and maybe even Nations will sell them), maybe they will just get a neat variant...

the faction system works rather well for people who are new, who don't have the ships and trade XP to get the top missions.

balancing this will be really hard, I see that now as a friend just started playing. for him, working standings is the way it should work, it takes time. not as much time as before, thank heavens, but it takes time.

for me, with a Tung Maud and all the equipment I want, it's not a problem at all.

this is why I suggested you'd loose standing over time unless you kept it "alive", and I like Yodas suggestion (IIRC) from way back, that high-level missions should make you loose standing somewhere else when taking the mission. you'd then have to choose whom to have alliances with.

we need NPC Behemoths

*Axia needs you to deliver these widgets to Odia M14, due to the nature of this cargo our competitor, Tungaska may not aprove.*

For sub factions at least, and maybe Serco/Itani, makes sense...

(Did you mean this one?? =D)

some ships should need good standing at 2 or maybe 3 factions/corporations, then you won't see so many rev c's (sry, lil off topic) and delivering for one should lower another faction and so on, making it more complicated to get the right combination to get a ship. Anyway, when the combinations are thought out properly, I think you'll get a larger diversety of ships being used.

I'm sorry, I do not want to play a game that requires greater than 7 days of mission grinding to raise my faction standing high enough to buy a ship.
Feb 26, 2005 Spellcast link
well wylfling, I dont want a game where it is possible to go from 0-neutral to +980-admired with 5 factions in the same 7 days.

I agree that the reputation gain was MUCH too slow before (it took me 2 months of 30+ hour weeks to get +600 with everyone)

but now it is too far in the other direction.

spellcast/lin are right.

I just went from 400 itani to 800 itani .... with only one single mission. Sure, it was 10 jumps, and 112 crates... but that didnt take more than an hour or two.

Now, I remember in the old days, I would have gotten
a measly 7 points for a 10 jump retreival mission.

I am sure they are still tweaking things.

There's no sense in setting up a strawman, Spellcast. Nobody's advocating that scenario. (Anyway, opposed factions and decaying standing would fix all that, as has been said quite a lot.)

But back to the topic - I'm really surprised to see this ship debuting so soon. I expected at least another 6 weeks or so.

I'm still wondering where the official announcement is... I haven't been able to find it...
Feb 26, 2005 Spellcast link
wylfing, that is not a strawman.

I leveled my itani standing from -599 to +910 TODAY.
I spent about 5 hours to do it.

I know several people who have raised factions from 0 to 900+ in 1 day, not spending more than a few hours to do so.

now, since there are 7 days in a week... i'll let you do the math.

Tyrdium, check the news tab inside the game.

So the problem is that if you spend as much time playing VO as you would working a full time job, you can be admired by a lot of factions.

Hmm. That actually sounds about right to me.
