So every one of you who fought against a backroller, you spoke to your opponent and instructed him/her how to fight better, right?
Thought so.
Thought so.
Actually, physics mode is much more useful in a group fight. See what I was talking about? You all learned some bastard-child of a true tactic and are now asking for the ability to travel in reverse to be removed. Sheesh.
It actually does make sense that since the engines ARE in the back of your ship that your thrusters would not put out your max base speed while traveling backwards..... Tho just do what I do. If you find a backroller start mimicking them :) Then when your about 1000m away just leave them to their backrolling.

Those are not engines, they're exhaust ports. The engines (gravitic drives) work by "latching onto" threads of gravitational energy.
threads of gravitational energy?
ok, that's a whole lot of BS. Gravity is conservative.

It's a sci fi story. Don't overanalyze it. Besides, we know jack about gravity, except that it works.
that's not true, we've got a pretty idea how it works... yay space-curvature!
We think we know how gravity works. Whether we're right or not is another thing. And mostly, I'd go with Science Fiction, emphasis on Fiction (ie, yes it was BS).
On the other had, I've never before heard of gravitic drives needing exhaust ports, and this is also the first time I've heard that the engines in VO were gravitic drives.

In the words of the devs, the things in the back of your ship that look like engines are actually heatsinks.
dont you know, all the ships in VO are runnin on p4EEs requiring the cold vacuum of space to keep them in safe operating temperatures.
Did any of you read the backstory? Gravitic drives are mentioned as the primary method of thrust. And since gravitic drives wouldn't need any sort of reaction chamber, those things must be thermal exhaust ports on the back.
We are now totally off topic.
