New ships in update

OK, we've all seen the new Mining Hog and wondered what it was for. Now, I've scoured all the factions and couldn't find the new Maud. If I cannot find it, nobody can, I figure, being 10/14/12/14/6 and Admired everywhere (though maybe it requires a high level of mining, which I don't plan on getting anytime soon).

Other specialty ships that were affected by the update:

The Orion Centurion Rev C is now only 3200 kg, with 2 small ports, 6 cu and a drain of 60 for 240 m/s turbo speed, and acceleration of 230N ! It's now better than the IBG Centurion :D

The TPG Atlas second version is faster, with 210m/s turbo speed, making it the fastest trader ship by a very thin margin.

The Corvus Marauder is now going at 220 m/s with a drain of 60/s, making it a non-trader ship and a damn fine figthing ship as always.

The Corvus Vulturius goes up to 245 m/s for an insane drain of 90 (!) which is ridiculous when compared to the Centurion mk3 or Orion Centurion Rev C...

*** That's all folks, other ships were not affected ***

Also, what happened with Tunguska ? They now will only sell me basic ships (no mk2/3 variants) as if I had negative standing with them... even though I'm at +807 with them ! But they still offer me two trade missions instead of just one. Somethings fishy there...

the mining prefectorate eh?

Also the Corvus Vulturius has become a dueling ship ONLY imho. It can't move around the battle field with any energy left to do any fighting, so its stuck against 1 opponent. In comparison, the Orion Centurion is Leagues better. the extra 5 m/s means nothing compared to the fact that the Rev C can keep up its turbo for quite some time.

Good to know the Corvus maud is decent, otherwise I might be a tad miffed that I worked up 1000 standing points with corvus.

Yay for my Cent mk III!

IBG Centurion
3000kg mass
235N thrust (I think)
240m/s top speed
70e boost
55m/s non-turbo speed <<< Interesting...

yeah the corvus vult's maneuver speed is 75 m/s which is AWESOME... if you can get the damn thing into battle.

Yay for the IBG Cent!

The coolest looking ship in the game is now also the coolest to fly!

shape don't compare mainly the corvus vult with the centurion, but compare it with the serco vult and with the vult mk3 or 4.

Can somebody post the stats for the other ships(valk, cent, warthog, wraith, hornet,...)?
Dec 21, 2004 Spider link
Valks:

Mass: 3000 ( except 3100 for vengence)
Armor: same
Cargo/Weapons: unchanged
All have spin torque of 7.0, And Thrust of 210

Rune valk has drain 50, 65/200 (infiniboost!)

Valk: 65/240, drain 65
Vengence: 65/240 drain 70
don't have the numbers for the IDF valk.

Warthogs are a lot shorter, 10m instead of 14 (faster turn rate).

Railguns are 800kg instead of 1200, which makes it a better choice by a little. Gatling turrets are 1399kg instead of 1200, making them a little less useful.

The mining Warthog has slow infiniturbo (190) and quite light for a trade ship. I think it was intended for Gray space trading and mining.

railguns were 800Kg

then they still suck :)

gauss cannons reduced by 200Kg down to 1000Kg....nice!

gauss were dropped with 200kg, to 1000kg even. quite nice

Yeah ok, the standing requirements for the marauder miner were insanely high. I've lowered them a bit for the next release.

but doesn't Chao need a goal to work towards? :)

Do so, do so, I love challenges. But I just don't like flying blind, so you should have just told us what those reqs were.

I'm sorry but who the hell mines in a warthog, that's the most rediculous thing I've seen the devs come up with so far. A mining ship should be loaded with large weapon slots, be extremely slow and have no tactical advantage over a fighter style ship. EVEN if it were designed to be used in gray space it's the worst design I've seen. NERF the mining hog!!
Dec 22, 2004 Starfisher link
nerf it? what are you on about? Nerfing means make worthless - you seem to be ranting that it is wortless already. What?
Dec 22, 2004 Forum Moderator link
I'm getting a little tired of the rude flamey tone. It actually impairs your ability to get your viewpoint heard. It's "Ridiculous" by the way.

The warthog is designed to use in dangerous mining areas where a large, slow mining ship would be cut to ribbons.
Dec 22, 2004 johnhawl218 link
so instead of making a ship that makes sense and would promot group oriented tactics, you add a ship that can do the mining by it's self. Just another lame addition. We can already do that with what was the current warthog anyway, you didn't really do anything but make another varient and call it a mining ship, LAME.

As for my attitude, get over it or block me out, it's my opinion.

Nerf is to change, I ment nerf it to reflex a more realistic mining vessel. A warthog is an assault ship not a mining ship.
Dec 22, 2004 Spellcast link
Actually the warthog miner is slow(for a warthog), relatively unarmored, and doesnt carry a huge amount of cargo. Equipped with a mining beam, its hardly a combat ship anymore.

It does make a fairly nice light mining ship however. It has the ability to slip into an area, grab some minerals and slip back out. It will never be as profitable as mining in a centaur however.
