Nerf is to nerf, to make worse. Change is to change, to make different. This is something you really need to get right, because a large segment of the community doesn't take kindly to people crying nerf.
You are entitled to your opinion. You are not entitled to be an ass. If you are dissatisfied, express it in a mature, well thought out manner, and everyone will be happy.

An easy way to remember is that the phrase comes directly from the toys. As in it doesn't hurt when you get hit in the head with a Nerf football, because its 'nerf', not because its a 'change' football. To nerf is to make something unable or less able to cause dammage or harm. Not sure why you think it means to mod something.
/me rolls on floor laughing.
I had no idea that "nerfing" was related to the toys!! I thought it was just a silly word for a silly thing... but that term fits perfectly!!

Point is still valid, instead of taking a model that already is in the game and making a variation of it, come up with a new ship style. Make it a mining fraiter or something. ANYTHING, just not anohter varient of an existing model.
"Nerf" is a subjective term anyway, not even in the dictionary so don't talk to me about how it is and is not suppost to be used.
If I choose to be an ass then that is my choice, you have a choice to read and respond to what I have to say or not, you make the choince.

If you want your opinions to be heard, then you state them clearly and reasonably. If you choose to be an ass, then you have to accept that no one will listen to you, you will be ridiculed and if you take it far enough you'll be banned. All because you refused to be reasonable.
The devs have previously stated that it takes about a month to make a new player ship and get it in game. This is why they persist on making variations instead of new models - they do not have time to make new models, nor should they suddenly cease to update the game for a month while they create that content. Weekly updates that tweak and add things like mining are far more desirable that a new ship model at the end of a month of minimal patches.

johnhawl218:
i realize that you're waiting for people to take your bait so you can keep flaming. and yes, it makes you look like an ass.
keep in mind that creating an entirely new ship is much more involved than making a variant of an existing ship. it needs to be designed from art, rendered, and tweaked to work within the physics engine (and probably a lot more that i'm not aware of). i'm sure the devs are in the process of doing this, but their efforts are likely concentrated on mid-level and cap ships (which you've so bluntly expressed your desire to have ingame sooner rather than later). and frankly i think this is as it should be.
please do everyone a favor and 1) be polite, 2) be constructive. thanks.

johnhawl218, you do have a point. It would be nice to have dedicated mining ships (as opposed to modified fighters and freighters) with mining beams which would only be mountable on mining ships in mining ports (ideally).
I might suggest that you not take such an agressive/combative tone while discussing your ideas as the discussion will degrade into a flamewar and the actual validity of your idea will be lost or cheapened in the ensuing firefight. Your choice.

Is choosing to be an ass rude behavior? It is your choice to violate the boards policy you are correct. Um, also words make a dictionary not the other way around, silly. Lots of words didn't start out in the dictionary. In fact none of them did.
You can make up your own definition that is true. I do feel however, that you will have more luck communicating if you stick to the more commonly accepted meanings or words.
Are you tired of playing? Are you one of those people who can't leave on their own? Maybe you need to cause a seen and be kicked out? Very James Dean, super cool. Best of Luck!

So ban me or shut up…
This ought to get more and more interesting by the minute...
I think I'm probably at least 40% responsible for pulling this off topic, so I'll clean up the mess.
Nobody will be banned for the behavior that has occurred in this forum so far, and it has long been the policy of Guild and myself not to censor opposing points of view (so long as they don't seriously violate the forum rules, which hasn't really happened here).
I was merely trying to point out that even the most valid points go unheard when the presentation is poor. A less adversarial approach is often the best. There are probably a hundred variations to the phrase "You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."
Anyway, I'm locking this thread in hopes that either the main topic has been discussed adequately, or that it will continue under a new thread and in a more civilized tone.

[sorry Genka, nothing to see here!]
