You mean like a loud beeping any time a homing rocket is locked on to you? Yeah, that'd be a neat addition...

Really people, learn to assess your surroundings. With a 3km radar range, it's damned hard to not see someone coming.

When pirating, it's always safety in numbers. You never know when there will be a large fleet escorting a cargo ship that will come and gank you.

Yeh target a pirate ship and away missles :-) that is what i have tryed to do been raided 3 times so far. One time i was alt-tabbed out when i got hit. that is one downside to a all ways on game heeh

As a member of the Cargo Liberation Movement any victem of mine gets this message before we attack, we target and hail them as such "Attention pilot, the CLM corp. requests you drop all cargo and leave the sector immediately" If they do not drop their cargo they are dead, however if they DO drop their cargo, they have CLM protection for their next few runs through our space, so all a trader has to do is line these pirates pockets and they have themselves an illegal escort through pirate space

P.S. CLM is an Elite branch of the Corvus Prime corporation, and therefore Odia and all subsequant grey sectors are guarded by us.

As the instigating member of The Cargo Liberation Movements attack on UIT (im not the leader or even a rank, so my actions were without the leaders consent...), i would like to take this time to point out that I personally have not wasted a bus in the name of CLM, or even shot anybody who replies (and stops running) to my standard hail bind of (in both private and sector chat...), The CLM request you jettison your cargo, or die....
I have even messaged the squad members and arranged passage for people who had asked...
I have had great fun chasing various nation members across dau and beyond, i have even had a total self professed n00b turn round and give me one of the best fights i have had in ages (resulted with the death of us both....)
Most the squad are beta, although i think there are one or two alpha hiding in the ranks.... So nobody can claim victimisation by pro's...
I have had people flame me (expected...), congratulate me (on the light show, or the chase), and people determined to hunt me down and make me pay (one such missile spammer made near the entire squad pay ;), and the best part, people asking me to let them join the guild.... sorry with limited gameplay available, i had to make my own, or fall asleep trying... I AM A TESTER, 1st and foremost, but who said i cant make it fun huh? and i hope i have made it fun for more than just the pirates, i look forward to some large scale PvP soon!

LONG LIVE THE CLM..... Ya pesky roid farmers ARRRRRRrrrrr..

P.s the commands to bind a key to private message your target are

**e.g > /alias pirate "msg %target% The CLM request you jettison your cargo, or die..." - then on a new line /bind p pirate (binds the p key to the command...)
As the above command does not work against guild members (it appends the abv. eg [CLM] to the %target% variable? forgot to report this...) you should also do a sector msg with the say command... (eg /alias pirates "say the blah de blah" /bind P pirates... (sorry FM) WE NEED A WEBSITE FOR THIS STUFF...LOL

I remember my first demise at the hands of a pirate back in smaller universe. I got all bent out of shape, read the boards, calmed down a little, and posted a role-playing call for revenge.

I know now to check radar, check the list of players in the sector, check radar, get a better ship, check radar, move fast, check radar, stay in monitored space, check radar, improve my fighting skills, check radar, take the shortest path to WH or 3K meters, check radar, and use the emergency brake while docking.

Did I mention check radar? I like to GET money for my cargo, not lose it. So I learned to stay on my toes and be aware of what's happening around me.

Oh yeah, one more defensive measure is make fast friends fast. Know who your friends are and let them know when and where you see a pirate... Knowledge and avoidance are the best defenses. (Start or join a guild, I say).

A "Cargo Scanner" would be very good, not only for pirates.

Thinks later at game ther can be illegal cargo from hidden pirate base. This base are at any sectors around some systems, but have no station symbole on the navigation map. So you can only found it if you explore the sectors.

There the pirats alsow can sell ther stolen cargo or reload some missiles and repair. The only one different from normal Space Station are, they not secured from any NPC Bot's, and if any fight going on around the station, no NPC guarding Bot's are coming.

Story:
Report from the %Race% Space Police Center
---------------------------------------
Last month we have seen more and more pirate fleets at crossing the %Race% Border Zone flying to a unknown Sector. Some of them where shoot down, the most of the cargo are holding parts for building a Space Station. We have send out more patrols around the sectors, but thinks they have changed the route into the system, so we can't found them yet. All pilotes be warned to hold ther eyes open, for more pirat convois and report them in to the Space Police Center.

Is it possible to stick a bounty on someone? If regular pirates started wracking up a big bounty, it'd soon become economically viable for bounty hunters to start tracking them down.

Pirates would get lots of PvP combat (which they seem to be asking for), and traders get a bit of protection (and some become Q-ships).

A "'Fred' just killed you, do you want to put out a bounty?" option after being killed by a player would work.

Apologies if this is already in the game, but I haven't seen an option yet.

Please note: Wes does not speak for all CLM members. Personally, I am an "honor among thieves" sort of guy. I also see no point in shooting a ship without cargo. If I pirate someone, and he comes through again, I will usually just let him go.

Don't group us all with one guy's opinion. I will be speaking with my guild about this, and I will make sure this shit doesn't happen too much.

Sorry to anyone who got griefed...

I can vouch for the honor of CLM. I tangled with a few CLM members in the Azek wh to Dau (some good missile fights we had there, Darkcreed ;). And every time I entered the sector, the CLM always warned me to drop my cargo before opening fire.

I have no problem with the pirate concept of the game, in fact, the guild is adding a little excitement to it all with the formation of strike team alpha, (pirates beware :). I DO however have a problem with someone saying they are a pirate, but blowing you out of the sky just for the sake of blowing you out of the sky. I think the individule i refer to stated he is doing it to "Destroy our Clan". I not gonna mention names here, dont need to i think after last night.

In all honesty, the pirate aspects of the game create an "adventure" aspect that is lacking in other games and most likly will lead to some really fun and interesting events.

Cant wait for the 1st major encounter for Strike Team alpha and possible Beta against a major pirate incursion, wonder if the servers are up to it :)

Yes, i must admit that i begin to love that PvP in the game (PvP = Pirate versus Player ;-)

On the other side, in my opinion pirating is in no case 'honourable'. They are just pirates. Oh, wait pls. My fellow brother 'Deathbringer' wants to say something.

(*Agonizer handing the microphone over to Deathbringer*)

"
Hello there,

i'll try to make it short:

Me , 'Deathbringer' of the serco empire, hereby declares war to every
non-serco CLM-Member.

From this time on i will attack (and try to kill) any non-serco
person with the tag '[CLM]'. No further rules apply. I may decide
to run, to flee and to call for assistance. I may let you go when
you use '/givemoney Deathbringer' with an acceptable value. This,
however, may not work in all cases.

Furthermore i refuse to help or assist any serco who's a member of CLM.

Over and out,
Deathbringer"

Uhhh... sorry folks, seems as if some of his cybernetic implants gone crazy. Some engeneer has to fix them. Anyway i dont think that he'll be a problem. He's not good in fighting, and he will run out of money soon. Hint, hint ;-)

I have no problem with pirates. The more excitement around the better.

BUT... and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it generally more profitable to be a trader than a pirate? I mean, seriously.

As a trader you learn who has what commodities, who needs what commodities, and the best routes to meet the needs of interested parties. Some jackass camping a wormhole has no idea where to get the best price for the cargo he comes across, and can't usually even carry it all. The pirate has to immediately return to a base to sell the cargo, but which base gives the best prices? No way to tell where the hijacked ship was going with its payload in the first place. If pirates keep using the same nearby bases, prices will plummet when there supply needs are quickly sated.

It doesn't seem to make fiscal sense. Seems more like a waste of time, hanging out in space all night waiting for someone to come through the wormhole with something valuable that you actually know where to get a good price.

Pirates are dooming themselves to the financial fringe. Making enough to just get by and to continue their assault on honest men. I salute them for their tenacity, but boys, get a job. =)

Riiiiight, DarkCreed. ALWAYS warn, do ya? Funny, I seem to remember my bus getting pummelled into space dust 3.2 seconds after exiting a jump gate the other day... and I sure as heck didn't see any warning.

Face it, Darkie, you just like to blow things up =D

Anyway, I'll grant that my experience in this game is pretty low thus far, but sitting outside a gate with a fighter doesn't seem much like "pirating" to me. If you were REALLY interested in the cargo, wouldn't you have a partner with an Atlas or Prom sitting off to the side, waiting to collect the goods? I mean, even your average bus holds 6, and most fighters seem to hold 4 tops; seems like an aweful waste of missles if you can't even haul all the loot back.
