... and the bot lag problem is fixed as well.
Oh, and the font is slightly different.
Thanks, ya beat me to it.
new:
- new font
- Default weapon groups for ships
- player radar blip colors determined by faction standing instead of team now.
Please test this to make sure. If they are more disliked or above by your team, they should show up as green to you.
- Added feature where low-level items aren't for sale as frequently
- removed *Mission Computer <sectorid> bot. Now use /mission to talk to the mission computer or use station Mission tab.
- Sector maps now list any bots that are present
- players are warned if they're entering hostile or guarded territory
- added axis labels to the system map
- mission msgs should always go to general and mission panels now
- logpanel can use mouse wheel to scroll up/down now
- nav panel can be closed with whatever key is bound to /nav now
- nav panel always opens to current system map now
- new ship color picker palette
- F1-4 selects between the 4 chat tabs now
- clicking in the lower half of the station screen activates the chat and
clicking in the upper half activates the station part.
- No more black market missions
- Trade missions now available in neutralstar sectors
fixes:
- Tweaks to economy. Raw materials' prices vary more than items produced using them.
- You are entering <system name> <sector name>
- players hopefully don't spawn in objects when they jump in from another sector
- Nav menu button "Plot course" changed to "Jump"
- Weapon Group station interface colors changed so that associated ports are white instead of red and unassociated ports are grey instead of white.
- 'criminal' standing changed to "Kill on Sight"
- fixed some background rendering bugs with sun flares and planet rings
- Start menu slides in on startup again
- fixed Reload All. It only worked if there was already ammo in the weapon
- arcade mode should allow you to logoff now.
- fixed lag problems
- PVP faction standing changes are now only applied for the faction that's monitoring the space. (so killing an itani in NT space only gives NT hit.)
- PVP killing doesn't give any standing hit if the player is hated by the monitoring nation. (so if an itani pilot is hated by the itani nation, you can kill him with impunity)
- Fixed inconsistent wormhole locations
- Fixed stations with disjoint walkways
- Sectors are generally shrunk down quite a bit
- Trade mission should properly report sector number in all cases
- disabled the 16 item purchase limit
- removed newline in middle of nation chat msges (a.k.a. long range chat)
- Trade missions should no longer tell you to deliver cargo to the station that you're already in.
issues:
- the 'b' hotkey doesn't buy in the station.

Thank you SO much for making the heavy engine more efficient. It makes boosting less painful and tedious across some of these long sectors.
The font is also more functional IMO, which lets you fit more words in confined spaces (like the HUD and station interface).
Also, thanks for putting the bots in the map description. Botting missions are less tedious this way.
And thanks for making the navigation menu closeable by pressing the same key again. That was needed badly.
And I don't know if anything was done to the OS X client of Vendetta, but it's running a lot smoother for me for some reason. I can't explain it. Please tell me I'm not hallucinating.
This is by far one of the best updates I've seen so far. Thank you, devs.

I think you're hallucinating. I wish you weren't though. I didn't explicitly do anything to make the mac version faster as far as I know.
Or that there are less objects in the sectors.

Really, really nice. Thanks!
I flew through some of the same sectors as I was homed in before the update with the FPS indicator on and I'm seeing some pretty amazing results. In sectors where I used to get 50-60 FPS while looking at an asteroid field, I'm now getting 110-130 FPS. The density of the asteroid field does not appear to have changed from the previous version either. Also, flying next to a station now yields around 50-70 FPS, whereas before it was more like 25-30.
Menu navigation also appears to be much smoother overall. Something happened, I don't know what, but performance is back up again for me. I didn't install any OS X updates, drivers, RAM, or anything of the sort since the last update. Something weird is going on and I'm liking it. Of course, I don't want to discourage any future optimization of the Vendetta code for OS X, since this may be a temporary thing that'll break again in another release.
Can anyone else who is using the OS X client confirm any improvements in performance?

I agree with Arolte. I runs smoother. I don't know if you wanted to make the heavy engine that efficient, no drain while boosting :) As for my other comments see bug forum.
And on the radar colours, it doesn't realy work. I was in Dau K-12 I think, the one with the 2 TPG stations. I am respected by TPG and the nation defense bots there showed up as red.

I'll third the OSX improvements! Yay!
The font is much better, much more 'polish' is added!
One small issue, if you select a sector in the nav manu, then close the nav menu, the selection dosen't stick. I think it did before...

It does not run any smoother for me, it is still very choppy. When I first got this emac about a month ago, my framerates were fine, but since then, they have been steadily decreasing. As of now, I was getting better framerates on high textures in the beginning than I do now with medium textures...
This is a beautiful and well thought out update...Thanks, Devs.
The jumpiness and sound anomalies are still there for OS X when looking at high poly areas (for me at least)

Just have to add a "me too" - lots of goodies in this update! Can't wait to try it out later this evening.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Thanquol, the drain on the heavy engine is still there, it's just slightly more efficient than before. I think it works perfectly. With a heavy battery it still takes a while to recharge. Energy weapons seem to be unaffected by the change, since they don't fire any longer than they used to--at least for the AGT I tested. So you can feel at ease that it is still balanced.

huh .. I got trade missions in ns before the update ...

Me too.
I love the update, great work guys!!!!!
Hey Arolte, they just bumped the drains down one level. The heavy uses as much as the medium used to, the medium as much as the efficient. I don't have an efficient, so I don't know what it uses.
I wonder if arolte knows that 20 is the max detail level now, instead of 1. Should someone tell him?
I was gonna say that... they actually forgot to say anything aobut that when it changed I think. I"m now flying at 20/13 and getting wonderful results.
