20/20 all the way man...
It was very confusing when I logged onto 3.5.0 and everything was ugly... I looked at my LOD settings and they were 1/1 just like always. Then I changed them to 20/20 (to see if it would get worse), and it got better.

Some first impressions:
Love the engine changes - those trade missions go a lot smoother now! I also have problems with sector selection not being sticky - bit anoying but no biggie.
A few issues: for some reason the added info on the nav panel (bots in sector) and the mission descriptions (name of system, sector etc) have no surrounding spaces and appear right next to surrounding text. I was not able to use the mousewheel to scroll the log (in-flight) - do I have to bind anything to do so? Or was this change in-station only? I believe this was already possible in stations.

Celkan, I don't think there's an efficient engine anymore. I don't think it's really needed, since the med/fast combo dominated previously. So now we got infinite turbo at 180m/s!
As for the detail settings, I don't think they were physically changed. The numbers were just switched around in the menu. If that's the case then no, I'm not playing with the lowest settings.

Friendly fire is on right?
Looks interesting, right now I don't have any internet access on my computer.
Oh, is the guild system implemented yet? I don't see anything that has to do with guild in this update so I think the answer is no.

Why... the hell... did I stockpile med/fc ><

Uh... Serco are red... Didnt you say that Itani should be blue? Because they're red to NT.
Futt - No, you can't scroll the log in-flight with the mouse wheel. Perhaps we could allow you to bind keys to scrolling the log, though, if we don't already.
Friendly fire is the same as it was before. You cannot damage people on your own nation. (Whether that's "on" or "off" is ambiguous)
Also, some additional changes that weren't mentioned:
- weapon desriptions have been updated/fixed (iceflare/starflare/etc)
- ship descriptions now show actual mass
- concussion mines now do 1 damage, and thus actually impart a force on whatever's in the area when it detonates.

The norm in other games I've played seems to be that on = teammates can kill you.
Currently the nation defense bots only show up green for your own team.
wow, I missed alot. Hehe sorry I been alittle inactive, my comp fried and im STILL waiting for it to be fixed. Im talking on my moms laptop.
I have a Maud with a FC and heavy engine and I have NO drain while using boost. I don't know if anyone elso has run into this "problem". I can jump throiugh the wormholes going full boost.

Yeah, 200m/s and no drain. Pretty neat. Can you spell "no-more-pirating"?
I'll 4th it, the OsX version seems smoother and faster. Sector loading times have dropped markedly.
On the nav front can we have the selected sector 'sticky' again pleeze devs as 'simondearsley' points out it used to stick before.

My FPS jumped from 50 - 100 as well. And I'm running WinXp Home, 1.8 ghz, 1gb ram gf4ti4600. Everything looks nice.
Whatever you did, awesome!

bloody hell...everyone gets better fps except me...
Oh sure andreas, rub it in...
The framerate increase (I've also noticed a small one on my iMac) is probably due to the fact that a1k0n restarted the server without tons of debugging code. This also fixed the bot lag. (He posted about it somewhere about a day before the update, but I'm too lazy to dig it up.)
sweet!

The Dau system had trouble loading a couple times...
Otherwise, awesome update!

Bot lag is in fact NOT fixed. I lost a very valuable and irreplacable gatling turret to a lagged drone II... -.-; It lagged out for a minute, and at the end of that minute, I had gone boom.
