ok arolte, even if we dont get new ships/weapons, the rest of my points are still valid. And before you whine about how "some people just want to level the playing field cause they didnt get as far ahead and want to bring everyone else back down" please remember that i have 9/10/10/11 and was the second person ingame with a valk.
besides which, when the devs released 3.4.0 they also stated that they were pushing the new missions into game without including the new universe or new equipment. So i think there is a chance of new items. At the very least I expect to see new engines to go with the new navigation system. some engines will only be useful for insystem travel, being unable to jump through wormholes. We might even have 2 engine slots, 1 for localjumps, 1 for wormholes, or an engine slot and a wormhole module slot.

I have read and pondered Spellcast's arguements and I am still of the opinion that a reset in any form with the release of the new universe is ill advised. A reset at commercial release is a given.
1) There are plenty of testers at lower levels to test beginner and intermediate missions. Given the possibility that bugs are discovered at lower levels, a simple "new character" creation can put a bunch of advanced testers on the problem
2) There are advanced testers to test intermediate and advanced missions.
3) There are testers with advanced equipment to test the universe and navagation systems.
4) If there is a commercial release in the near future, testing on all facets of the engine should be done in an expeditious way. Waiting for testers to advance to test advanced missions is a waste of valuable time.

I dunno. I don't think the new navigation system will really have much to do with the current level system.
My suggestion to the devs would be to completely wipe cash/inventory/faction data, and leave the current license levels intact. I dunno...

/me agrees with spellcast:
either income, faction standing and level gaining should be slowed down (especially money income)
1) i have over 21mil atm.. i have really no idea what to do with it except giving it to noobs. I think that it should be very hard to earn more than 100% of item 'basic' value (it's easy to get 700% income ATM just trade nanites to s6 or somewhere alse)
2) you should REALLY work hard to make faction love you

You dont even need nanites ...
Just get a route that is remotely outside of common tradelines. Still If I do one traderoute mission, then I can recover the loss of 1 - 2 ships. Considering the amount of pirates/griefers I dont really see a prob.
the thing is, you only get that much money once you are nigh uncatchable to pirates "medium/fc combo ...".
If I trade in my centaur, and a pirates want to kill me then i am death. If I have a marauder, then my chances to survive while they have the same wish are greatly increased.
So odnt blame it on the exonomy, blame it on the ships.
But you are right, I sometimes make runs with like an investment of 500 a wedget and a return on investment of 6000...
Still this can easilly be balanced by preliminary increase the prices or delete some amount of cash and then decrease the profit of the tradelines. My point is, this can be easilly done during the real release, just make sure that you dont make them penniless, since people dont like that ...

actually at present i have 951k I gave a lot away, and havent been trading much. i stopped collecting money at 3mil and kinda spent since then. but if i wanted to 21mil is about 8 hours worth of work.
well, if you have a trader bot, it works while you sleep :)
