hmmmm you'll need a hyperspace target plotter like in 'Frontier' so you can follow and or beat your target to its destination if you have a faster / ligter ship.

well, maybe when someone warps next to you you can warp for almost nothing!
and you'd have some eng to attack and that other guy will still need to re-charge

since some people mentioned my favourite game, i will tell how it was addressed in elite elite.
you could not jump when near an object, ie enemy ship. other thing that you require fuel for large jumps between systems. of course if you are cheapo like me, you'd go to the star and just go around it using short jumps. sometimes i'd fuel near the star.
oh, sweet memories... and i think thargoids are necessary. just imagine fleeing from icarus just to be caught by furies in mid jump. WOOT!

If you can't warp near objects how the hell are strike teams and convoys supposed to work?

I assume it'd be an issue of tactics and technology. To keep you from crashing headlong into something, there'd be a safety, mandated by some shipbuilding industry oversight group. The pirate's trick would be finding a manufacturer (or modifier) unscrupulous enough to bypass those controls or modify their settings for you.

I got 3 questions..
1. Will the flight system change or will it have the same freespace-style flight?
2. If there is going to be 30 players in a giant universe with only 7000 sectors, will there by NPC guys to shoot at as well?
3. Will there be the ability to add AI wingman to fly with a player?
Eventhough the combat system and the flight system doesn't look compelling compared to Jumpgate, it will still blow that game away. With 7680 sectors compared to Jumpgate with approx. 128 sectors, Vendettas universe would be 60 times larger than the other space flight game I used to play.
