Right, but I was under the impression that the ships we have now would eventually fill those roles. As everyone has been saying, there do need to be a few changes made.

Ok.. so again, what is the problem with the prom being totally owned by the best fighter in our game's universe? UncleDave was on today, and bragged that he could take down most valks in a prommy as it is now... so it is possible to use the prom effectively as an anti-fighter ship if you are very skilled. And so it should stay, perhaps with the prom getting some more in the way of l-port firepower and a bit more hull.

just the other day (i'm at school atm) two newbies, each one with a valk, chased me for like 3 sectors.

now, they did'nt get me in the end (where did they learn to chase?) but it was annoying as hell to be chased for 3 or 4 sectors with 4% on my vult.

i tried to take one down, but you cant do any thing against 2 valks, even if newbies use them.

devs, can you please put limitations on the valk (or all special ships) like that you may have one special ship purchased at each login (or day)?

i know the thread was talked about, limitating the valk..i just felt it was time to revive it...

(you can go digging it up, i have'nt the time for it)

im able to take down valks with my vult and i would've just died and killed them afterwards.

Q: There is a limitation on special ships, lunitary. It's called money. Right now, a loaded Valkyrie costs 40,000 - 50,000. Now that's a heck of a lot of money for a "newbie," don't you think? If you force newbies to use "newbie" ships, they will never get better.

yeah, i mean arent you used to the vets chasing you around, killing with wild abandon, and causing general havoc?

do you call a vult a newbie ship? i dont...why can't they use it?

and trigger, you show me how to take down 2 valks, one with tri flares, and the other with dual gauss and one flare...

when i was a newbie it was hard for me to start with because it was harder for me trading. but once i got the special ships, it was so much more satisfactory then if you get money easly...and if you check the trade routs, you will find it very easy to earn money!

i know they were newbies because they were bouth in a valk, they did'nt succed taking down a vult with two valks....

how meny pilotes do you know who can't take a single vulk with two valk?

If you are good at dodging and had a decent head start running for three sectors it's not that hard to avoid people.

and what if you were 200m away from them?

To bring up something related, a fully-loaded valk costs 45000, for a prom its more like 70000. Yet the valk is superior.

No I will not shut up about how the prom needs to be boosted :p

im so awaiting missions :(. In stead of just buying the specials, you need to do a mission to buy 1 special :D. Do you lose it, well tough luck, expect to do a mission for another 10 hours to get another one.

It will stop the whining, it will stop people from just using it randomly as fodder and it will be a statussign of that persons knowledge/playingtime.

And in the end, problem solved.

the problem is that we don't know how long it will take the devs to get the missions up and running, and thus the problem remains.

we need a solution for the problem untill the missions are ingame and to get a special you must do a mission.

Just let them iron out missions pronto in stead of sidetrackign them to solve this predicament ;).

Hey SC, I don't think he was speaking about only limiting it for newbies. As a matter of fact, your 'newbie' reasoning is flawed. The money actually HURTS newbs with relation to vets. I mean, the average n00b doesn't have 50k. But Phoenix has about enough for 280 valks without even touching his cargo supplies. So, missions would balance things out MORE. Newbs could get a valk in the same number of missions as a vet, and take the same amount of time. Additionally, it'd get the non-specials used more, which would be cool!

here's my view on this (often discussed) subject.

leave it alone. dont bother slapping a band-aid on a temporary problem when the devs are going to do major surgery in the nearish future. (let them worry about coding missions, not adding limitations that will be pointless once the missions (or factions, or whatever they use to apply additional limits to equipment purchases) are in place)

As UncleDave said: A prom is 70k, a valk is 40. Why the HELL isn't the prom better!? Boost, boost, boost!
Oh, and missions.. *drool*. Limitations to specials will probably come in real soon along with 'em.

I like proms. I'd use 'em if I didn't hate sc18. I do use my current prom whenever Phoenix and his tres amigos aren't griefing me to death.

I like the mission idea. Anyone ever play Zelda, Ocarina of Time? We need a really long and tedious mission like the one you need to get the Biggoron Sword.

Oh man, to get the biggoron sword it took FOREVER.

Prom only needs a little more hull . This new push on the rockets gives the proms "heavy" status an advantage.
