So, I'm leaving for California in a few hours, with GDC next week. My schedule out there seems pretty dense, so hopefully some good stuff will come out of it.
It was my intention to get the new Trident variants launched before I left, but there's just been too much pre-GDC stuff cropping up. Companies asking for proposals and so on (it's good that there's interest, but it's always right at the last minute). If I can, I'll do it when I'm out there, otherwise it may have to wait until I return.
However, please be aware that in the meantime we're hard at work on some other goals:
- Trying to resolve the "non-hitting shots" issue that crops up in player events. We've definitely seen one problem that appears to be a time desynchronization issue, but we have to figure out how it's getting desynched.. our game goes wildly out of its way to maintain consistent time, using the same kind of network-tempered phase locked loop utilized by ntp servers to maintain near-atomic synchronized accuracy. Something is going awry, and anyway, we hope to have this ironed out by the end of next week. That's the goal anyway.
- More of the "Large, Complex Sector" development that I mentioned in my last newspost. I really hope to see this in production sometime soon. It should be awesome. And it will dovetail well with..
- New rock / asteroid textures in development by Curt, along with new meshes he's already made. He's been on this project for awhile, and it's actually a lot broader than just "rocks" (as much of an educational thing), but it has yielded some cool results that will dramatically improve some of our visuals. Especially when asteroids are in far larger, denser fields as mentioned earlier.
- We've also added joystick support for iOS, and some other features to other versions, that are waiting for release. There's also some serious concept work going on for our next-generation art, that I'm going to be excited to show off when it's more complete.
There's going to be a big announcement after I get back, wrapping up a lot of the work we've done since the beginning of the year, showing before/afters of some of the art assets we have ready to roll out, as well as our next-generation art direction and gameplay plans.

Good luck at GDC! And see my recent post in bugs, it's not just during player events, or during busy sectors. Hope you can nail that bug, tis annoying.
With as often as you have to fly out to California, you might as well have Incarnatebot (who did the training voiceovers) permanently stationed there. Then just control him remotely with the Oculus Rift and assorted game controllers you guys likely have collecting around the office. :)
Cool... lets all guess what the "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT" is going to be!

Have fun Inc.!
No, TRS. Ponies aren't big enough for a big announcement. Clearly it's the return of /DisplaysHippos.
Well, TRS's mom always told him that size doesn't matter, so cut him some slack.
Great to hear Inc. Good luck in Cali. and Fly Safe.
He's going to announce that I am pregnant, and he is not the father.
Good luck Inc....:)
You picked a great week for beautiful weather here. Hope you don't spend all of it in the bowels of The Moscone Center.
Have fun Inc. :)
http://community.arm.com/events/1089 3:00PM slot. Maybe a sneak peek at some of this new asteroid fancyness? :D
I hope someone takes a video :)
"10's of millions of asteroids." (per sector)
