Ooh I wonder who yuutuu is I think he knows some secrets based on what he wrote!
YuuTuu is a very old VO player And I do understand his frustration.
Incarnate I was refering to the players constantly getting off track of the things they actually want and focusing on the latest ideas......not you guys.

PaK is right, yuu's been around since I can remember.
I like one of his points:
Step 7: Keep the same moderators that haven't been active in decades. You know the ones who could potentially start ingame events to keep people interested (cap ship battles)
Indeed. I'm not sure if they lurk or whatnot, but I miss Obsidian, ctishman, FiReMaGe and a few other guides.
If we had at least one guide online at all times, it would be pretty awesome to see what havok they could spawn by taking control of a rogue Serco trident and assaulting Deneb, or spawning a hive queen + retinue near a station in Dau, or organizing a group mining event with cool ore rewards & dangerous enemies that must be kept at bay, or something along those lines with rewards for players who participated, as well as a mention in the next NEWS post.
Or, hey, spawn 10,000 Tycorps and crash a sector. That's always fun. >:P

Vote spuck for guide! Huzzah!
I know what you're thinking, "spucks already an NPC", but I have it on good authority that he'd make an excellent guide!

Most of those folks are on very sporadically if at all. My days are full, but I do have time some nights PST. That's too late for most players, but it's worth a shot. I'll have to check to make sure that the necessary guide commands still work as expected.
You forget that many people around the world actually play this game, not just americans - We're just as active in the offpeak as in the onpeak for US
::rolls eyes::
meh, the guides are just make believe things to scare children

I've offered my help in that area as well years ago. If nothing just to start interesting and spontaneous events in the game. And keep the neonazis and other bad ilk out of course. I somewhat agree with Yuu's post as well, I probably would have been nicer and more courteous however. I tend to agree with the fact that there have been a few key players that have made the game interesting and combative. I remember mogul and his crazy stunt, I'll always remember that. The potential for those kinds of things to happen make the game more interesting, as well as obs' mining events were a particular favorite of mine. The Deneb run was pretty exciting as well, all player made content made this game pretty busy. The guides and those days however have fallen to the wayside.
I've said it before, I'll say it again...
Make Lecter a GUIDE.
Make Lecter a GUIDE.
If Guides are too powerful, the HOST idea fits nicely... All "superpowers" are coded in PCC mission-as-event, and only valid during event timeframe and location... With more events, as described, the hardcore players and newbies would have more content.
Second topic to raise is WHY does Guild Sw shows no love for guilds, as to allow them flourish, trade, build and own stuff, make war, etc... Guild gather the most hardcore players, and should be a layer for them, as a improved version of "MakeFriends" plugin... A Guild can declare any other Guild as (Friend/Neutral/Foe) and it should override regular, faction-based IFF...
Then, back to Planets, yes, they look great, but add no gameplay. Lucky us that they can be done in parallel with other coding tasks. But before BigPlanets I'd like to see more ships and stations, what adds gameplay now! And create a visual identity for each Nation, reaching its stations and ships, as each nation should have its own ships, even if only differ in visual model... (Same stats/AI, new models!).
It makes no sense that all nations and factions use exactly the same ships, even in war... Can you imagine Axis and Allies using exactly the same airplanes in WWII?
So, small gameplay changes can add diversity and do a lot more for Vet players than gorgeous unreachable planets...

... said none of the new players and potential new players that we've been demanding the devs to attract.
LMAO. With every post, my respect for 'ol Whistler grows.
@ Whistler... give'em a few days, they're new.
Kinda the point, Ryan.
Get them to stop whining about 'poor graphics' so they can start whining about other things.

Yes. What potential players keep saying is that the graphics are lacking - so they won't even try us out. VO has much to be desires, but it also has much to offer - that's why we're all still here arguing about it.
Yeah that's one of the good sides of them doing the mobile port. As far as Android games go, this looks damn amazing, and it'll give even the beefiest mobile GPUs out their (at the moment) a run for their money.
