Was wondering what other people used in terms of joysticks/gamepads/whatever.
Currently I'm running a Saitek X52, but I'm trying to find a good yoke style controller just for a change of pace.

OK... why not... Logitech Extreme Wingman 3D most of the time, Mouse+Keyb when botting
Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick and Logitech G13 gameboard for pretty much everything.
Plain old vanilla mouse/keyboard for me.
keyboard and Kensington slimblade treckball
Logitech Extreme 3d Pro joystick for the right hand, and a Nostromo SpeedPad n52 for the left. Stick controls yaw-pitch-roll, accel/decel, and weapons, and the n52 handles strafing (d-pad ftw!), braking, turbo, and most auxiliary functions (mission log, char tab, nav map, etc.)
I keep the mouse to the right of the stick so that I can very quickly switch from stick to mouse for operating the nav map and such, or looking around in mouselook if I need to. Sometimes I use the mouse for precision long-distance alignment (e.g. to aim closely at a distant piece of loot so as to require minimal course correction once my moth is up to speed), but I do all actual flight and combat using the stick. More fun that way.
Edit: and yes, my n52 does have a working d-pad again. I was able to fix it thanks to some epoxy, sandpaper, a dremel, and some small pieces of cardboard cut out of the crisping sleeve of a hot-pocket.

Logitech gamepad; the older kind with "1, 2, 3, 4" instead of "x, y" etc. I've had it for a long time... before that I used a logitech/saitek dual stick setup. 6 axes of control for 6 degrees of freedom.
R.A.T 5 Gaming mouse, and I sometimes press the odd key too. I've tried all sorts of fancy joysticks and gamepads over the years, although I tend to find dodging and the feel of flight is better with a joystick, my aim is much better with a decent mouse. Personal preference of course.
Mouse and Nostromo n52. Either that or get a keyboard that accepts multiple inputs. Being able to hit 2 strafes and a roll at the same time is key.
11" Air kb/trackpad.
Currently I am using two logitech 3d sticks but i have also tried flight yokes and speed pads.
Use what ever works for you.... some of VOs best use keyboard only while others like me cant fly worth a damn on the keyboard. (Not that I am all that good anyway)
Game pads are not sensitive enuff
Single sticks I tend to break the hat switches due to combat...
Flight yokes work great for large heavy stuff but suck at combat even with rudder pedals
I never found a good way to setup the rudder pedals(3 axis joystick)
Speed pads like the nostromo work real well in combo with keyboard or stick (I ran into some driver issues with linux)
Dual sticks are nice for combat but the setup does hog real estate and it is hard to type/chat while flying
Foot pedals can be had off amazon for 20 bucks or so are very nice for turbo and brakes and forward/reverse. theres also a few homemde ones around
Beware of the 3d mice like navigator - they are poorly supported software wise so inspite of thier potential I know of no one with a working setup. They should have made a 6 axis joystick mode which VO could use... BOOOOOO! The devs might be willing to add support if you buy and send them one as a present. LOL
X52 is a popular dual stick setup else Id suggest using the logitech which fare well for thier price range.
The current crop of cyborg sticks are total junk and fail quickly.
Oh and my sticks are mounted to my chair cause they caused a lot of arm problems when I had them on my desk - very comfortable to fly with.

Of course they are.
Of course they are.
PaKettle: Who uses kb only? That seems psychotic...
My fingers are like pigs tits when it comes to the keyboard so I try to farm as much as possible out to the buttons on my mouse and game pad. Have the mouse in my right hand, game pad in the left. Love the accuracy and precision I get with the mouse during combat.
I like the idea of getting rudder pedals, that makes a lot of sense.

Pizzasgood, just how many ghetto-tech rigged gaming devices DO you have now?
Shape, I use keyboard only sometimes. But for it to be effective, I have to use default bindings. Having up and down on w+s feels alien when playing keyboard only.
I use keyboard only. Mostly because I started out playing on a laptop, and my hands get too sweaty to use a trackpad.
Now, it just seems like the right choice.
The only real limiting factor is that, since I use c to shoot, I can't dodge right and shoot at the same time. Or rather, that would be the limiting factor, but I shifted my pain over by making v a locking fire button. This way, I can dodge and shoot at the same time, but I'm stuck using just one weapon group. Which is fine, since the EC89 only has one weapon port.

Just the one, Arf. The thing with the duct tape wrapped nail for a "joystick" was the same n52, when I was in a hurry to get back in the game just after the d-pad broke off. A couple months ago I finally got around to fixing it, because that ghetto digital-thumbstick was less effective than the original d-pad.
I do have an old ogg-player who's audio jack broke when I was in college, and I couldn't find a small enough replacement to fit inside, so I had to glue the new jack to the back. I made a small housing for it out of chunks of plastic cut from a pez dispenser. But I haven't used that in years.
I have made frequent repairs to the area around the hat-switch on my joystick, but nothing that could be considered ghetto.

I use my black MacBook's keyboard and a mouse i stole from my college computer commons.
Well, actually, I use a wireless Apple keyboard and a rather beat Razer Diamondback mouse.
