Actually, I now realize that mining near a station is a pretty good socializing activity -- you are earning while chatting. For a socializer, that's great; for someone that is planning some downtime, that's great.

But it does require that you plan on docking at a station that is worth mining at, and having a mining-configuration ship there. It requires some time before you can socialize, and it seems like it could be automated.

I actually think it's a bit of both.

hmm...my suggestion: get 2 joysticks, or a gamepad (with a little "thumb joystick" and a joystick...you'll have much more fun in physics mode, promised!

(I've a logitech g13 gamepad and a joystick with 4 buttons on the stick and a cooli hat for strafing)...it's just awesome.

tough, atm I'm waiting for some "wow" patches like more crafting/graphical/new ships (ok that won't happen in the near to middle future, due to the complicated way they choosed to implement ships)/other interesting stuff that I don't know yet.

For my last hour, I decided to fly to Corvus prime, get them to "neutral", and see what they would sell me.

I deliberately waited for the weekend, hoping to see lots of people. And, this is grey space, going through B8, it should be crowded, right?

Sigh. Lots of green dots; never saw another ship.

Oh: No, there is NOT enough space debris to tell which way you're going in physics mode. I deliberately looked for that, to try to see it. I could not.

Getting to Corvus was uneventful. A quick delivery run and back got me "trader" (:-) and neutral standing. And the stuff for sale ...

Even the biggest thing I could see to buy was only 20K, and I have 200K or so.

So money definitely comes in very, very fast. Faster than I can spend. PvP time is plenty.

But what is there to do next? It's not like I'm looking at "Ohh, I want to get X, but can't afford it yet", it's more a case of "I've got all this money and nothing to do with it".

Elsewhere, I'm realizing that people talk about earning millions in a weekend. The "Repair your standing" tells me that it's incredibly expensive -- 30 million -- yet others are telling me that they earn 3-6 million in a weekend. So that's not all that expensive after all.

Yea, the money scale in the universe is off.

Meanwhile, I've got about 15-20 minutes left, and not sure what to do with it. Thoughts? (Besides take a combat mission and blow up bots.)

You could try a few PvP fights in a Vulture MkIII with two Neutron Blaster MkIIs. Ask on channel 100 or 11 for a fight if nobody is already there.

Yes, you can make millions in a weekend. But at the same time, you can easily spend millions in a weekend through pvp. When I started playing today I had around 5.5 million credits. When I logged out I had 700 thousand. When I get around to it I'll spend maybe three hours and bring myself back up to 5 million or so.

Granted, I was spending money faster today than I normally do, because we had a free for all (furball) right next to a station, so I was dying more rapidly than normal (if I had been smart I would have used a cheaper ship to compensate).
