Banner for promoting the game

Hello,

I am new to this game but so far I like it a lot. One of the main features I like so much is the game portability between different operating systems (especially Linux).

I run a browser based game and I was wondering if it would be possible to place a banner or some promotional materials on my site and forum (if such materials exist and should the EULA permits it).

Thank you,

Nick

Thanks for trying to help out! :)
If the devs don't get back to you for a day or two, best to go to Customer Support and open a support ticket. This is probably something they don't want to miss.

Edit: *facepalm*. See Whistler's comment below. I should have remembered that existed.

Thanks for the reply!

I've taken the liberty to add a banner on my web site here:

http://www.galaxies-reborn.com/

Please let me know should the look and feel plus the text added is in accordance with VO trends.

Thank you,

Nick

Dranick: thanks, that's very cool :).

It is quite a bit darker, on your page. Apparently because the GIF is transparent (layered on the background). Is it a CSS transparency thing? I didn't think the GIF itself had transparency enabled.

Not super important. The exposure is welcome.

Hmm I recall playing your web game before I think some time back the VO irc channel was heavily engaged in it and I took a stab at it then

I'll see what I can do about the transparency (it is CSS).

I also want to feature the game on my Linux Help site at http:// linuxhelp.selfnet.org (I don't want to make a link parking thread here so I haven't linked the site).

Could I get some technical data about the game (something I can write about besides the review)?

Thank you,

Nick

What sort of technical data did you have in mind?
Nov 02, 2009 Dranick link
I've solved the transparency issue.

Well I was thinking of required packages and their versions, a comparison (if exist) between game and graphics performance on several system specs, Linux distros known to be "plug n play" with the game as opposed to those needing tweaks ...

More like a presentation of the game from a hardware/software point of view so I can offer valid and valuable info to people willing to give it a try under Linux.

VO runs on Linux.

It requires X and gtk, the latter only for the updater.

At minimum graphics settings it'll run on a netbook or really old Pentium 3 machine.

I don't understand why you couldn't figure that out on your own.

I was hoping for a more professional approach rather than my own opinion.

"Correct" is about as professional as you can get, methinks.

Now if this were some bullshit major-corporation-run windows only "HEY GUYS LOOK HOW MUCH HARDWARE WE CAN REQUIRE" game I would understand compiling a long, verbose list of 'technical specifications'. The fact of the matter is that Vendetta prides itself on being the antithesis of the aforementioned abomination. It really does run on just about anything (x86-compatible, of course) that will boot a 2.6 kernel.

Speaking of hardware, I wish we had an ARM build. It would be awesome to run VO on, for instance, the pandora.

The actual system requirements are in the FAQ. It will run on a netbook, but we highly recommend getting the latest drivers and DRI in that case. We have more workarounds for the Intel GMA950 series than any other chip in the last 10 years (which is saying something) and we still see a lot of crashes. So, if you have to run it on a GMA950, make sure you have the latest and greatest drivers/DRI. This is particularly troublesome on the Linux netbook market, as a lot of new EeePC/whatever owners aren't really Linux savvy, and have no idea how to upgrade their OS/components. The original 8.9" 800x480 netbook displays were problematic with the game (not enough resolution for the station interface), but it should be usable on any 1024x600 or better.

The minimum system requirements show the lowest machine capable of playing "acceptably" by our standards. It will run on lesser hardware, but combat may be pretty challenging. The GMA950 has no hardware T&L, for instance, but it is capable of running the game to some extent.

Wow if I get 3 people to sign up I get a free MOON? There's this moon in Pelatus I have my eye on...

Oh, and cool banner!

Thank you for your reply.

off-topic fun-facts.

LeberMac, you should know in the Romanian language we use the same word for "moon" and "month" so from my pov you are close to your dream coming true.

on a side note: also in Romanian language, Leber is a byproduct of killing the pig for the Orthodox Christmas fiesta... so you should imagine how Leber Mac sounds like for me... not good...

Good to see another Romanian in here!

That's no moon!

Oh so it was a translation typo and we don't get a free moon, just a free MONTH of gameplay.

(Sorry, but funny nonetheless.)

Anyway, welcome to VO: Dranick & metaweed!
