VO now has a Facebook page. I'm new to Facebook, so feel free to give pointers or ideas for things I could or should do. I mostly used the EVE and JGE Facebook pages as general guidelines. Like anyone can post photos and video to the Wall right now, I dunno if that's a good idea or not.

The wall is hooked to news via the Atom feed, but for some reason Facebook duplicates entries down at the bottom. I think it just has a minimum number of entries and repeats until it gets that.. hopefully it'll go away in time.

I think we need.. 100.. "fans" or something, before we can get a unique URL? I'm not really sure. Maybe that's only for personal accounts.

[EDIT] Lenny Kravitz (I was randomly looking at music/media facebook sites for ideas) has this neat thing that allows the page to open to a large image as the front page. Does anyone know how that works, or if that's some custom app or something?

the giant picture of lenny kravitz is a add on application that someone made that should not be too hard to duplicate for vo. (take a look in the facebook applications page to get an idea)

oh and when uploading pictures you should tag all of them "vendetta online" so that people don't have to search through photo albums to get the latest screenshots

Well, I think the VO "page" and VO "group" are not the same thing, so the official and un-official can coexist just fine.

peytros: I did briefly look at the application thing, but there are like 294832948392 freakin' applications.. I had no idea which one would do the simple task of "display large image".

I figured out that it's this app, but it's just the part that's letting him show a big image. After some more digging, I found that the ability to set the front page, or "default landing tab" in their language, is a built in setting. Some facebook user details both the app and front page thing here.

I hope that helps as I didn't attempt to create page to verify.

Edit: If you find other interesting apps that other facebook businesses are using and want to utilize them, you can see the app number in the url of the corresponding tab. You could then pass the id number using this url: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=

'kay, we now have a mildly spiffy opening page. What gigantic pain in the ass that was. Business accounts mysteriously can't add certain apps until affiliated with personal accounts.. the app itself only saves the HTML on every third or fourth try (otherwise it silently fails).. what the hell. Not to mention how hilariously inconsistent their basic interface design is, the sheer obfuscation makes me feel better about VO's bizarro UI. I'm amazed anyone can use facebook at all.

Note that the current splash page, while interesting, is mostly a placeholder until some future time when I feel like making a better one that links to a trailer and other stuff. For the moment I am facebooked-out.
