so over the course of the past week to week and a half some dastardly pirates and i have killed the same group of people at least 100 to 200 times each with out exageration. know I know i have stated my goals countless times to be the first char to 10000 player kills but honestly this is rediculous people need to go bankrupt if they continue to die in pvp an insane amount of times. please devs make weapons cost more money or every ship but the bare minimum cost more. the way people can just respawn with barely a hit to their wallet is making them virtually invincible and while i do enjoy the free pks to an extant part of it is just making no logical sense

Heh, how ironic.

"the way people can just respawn with barely a hit to their wallet is making them virtually invincible"

This is one of the reasons why you've been a pain in the ass.

Also, ffs is your shift key broken or something? Seriously.

Edit: I kinda second this suggestion, which should've been posted on the Suggestions section of the forums, funnily enough.

funny i don't remeber dying more then like 1-4 times in a day for more then a few months now.

also, ffs can we stop needlessly trolling every post i make with half ass personal attacks and spelling/grammar issues and its not a suggestion just a general observation

I think respawning should be delayed, and I submit the following approach to keep it from being too tedious:

You can respawn within the sooner of (a) 5 minutes, or (b) correctly answering several multiple choice questions about grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

I'm all for grammar tests. We won't ever see peytros again if we put a penalty system in place that punishes mistakes made in the tests with further time delay.

The reason you never died a lot is because you constantly ran away from fights flying far away from the battlefield. Not exactly honorable but it was smart.. in a way.

/sigh

if you can't even put aside your personal problems with me to talk about a obvious flaw this thread might as well be locked.

and yuutuu1 what nahin lor is always crying about on 100 isn't running its me leaving after killing him three times in a row right when he jumps back into b8 or leaving while being gangked which is so fair isn't it?

On the serious side, I don't think timers are the answer. No one would fight anymore for fear of sitting for 5 minutes waiting to respawn. Making things any more expensive would simply discourage more people from fighting at all, and grey would be more of a ghost town than it already is.

What really needs to change is the mindset of those pilots who are still fighting. On the one side, you have a couple of very dedicated fighters who basically dominate every encounter. On the other side you have n00b pilots who seem determined to fly to their deaths in the fastest way possible. Over and over again they choose to charge straight in firing at empty space while they get chopped down in seconds by a player experienced enough or with the presence of mind to use his strafe key and actually aim. There are exceptions. Nahim Lor is making good progress learning how to fly, but for the most part all these guys getting flattened are getting flattened because they're making no effort at all to improve their flying skills. They show up in slow moving easily defeated tanks with the worst possible load-outs. It's not just the n00bs doing this either. Many vet pilots, particularly the currently active Vipers, have found one style they like and haven't changed their flying or their ship choices in ages, despite being constantly dominated by whatever it is I happen to be flying that round. Anyone who's paying attention will notice I show up in a different set-up nearly every round, death or not. Sometimes I choose a load out based on the opponents, sometimes I'm simply bored and want to keep mixing it up. The side effect of this is I'm deadly in nearly anything. It also requires me to mix up my flying style to suit my load out and keeps me alert to my opponents. If you're going to come to B8 to die, you might as well learn something while you do. Dump the easy to kill agt hog and try an energy vult, still the best ship in which to learn PvP. Get a maud and try tri-flare or gauss/flare combo. A lot of new tactics open up simply by changing your load out, but you'll never know unless you do. Finally, don't be afraid to ask for 1v1s. Most of the time, unless it's an intense furball, someone will take you up on it and you can bounce to an empty sector for a practice round.

This game needs more good pilots. It's the bad pilots choosing to remain bad that is stopping them from getting good. Take that you freakin' grammar Nazis.

Very good post Tumble, congrats. You missed only one small detail... tactics.
Most groups of unexperienced pilots rush in blinded by adrenaline with a raging kill instinct. In reality, if you apply some tactics to ordinary furball chaos... a group of well organized pilots can do wonders and win even against far better opponents.

I agree, this game needs more good pilots and the best way to learn is from your mistakes, keep a cool head and use your brain.

Final note to newbies:
If you got your ass kicked by a better pilot, do not be afraid to ask him to teach you how to get better instead of cursing and dissing him in general chat.
Majority of good VO pilots will actually help you if you "play nice" and just ask.

A wait counter or making it more expensive to be a newbie would definitely be a discouragement. I think death should be quick, easy and painless. If this really is "Quake in Space", respawn should be instantaneous and you're right back at it trying to get some hits in before booming. If you really want people interested and willing to do PvP, you have to take the sting/fear out of it.

Now, there are some reasonable considerations to keep in mind about this and I think the current game balances them just fine. Newbie ships and newbie weapons are cheap and available. If you want to fly the IBG centurian, then there's a cost with that. Everyone's flying within their means so why not let them throw the money out the window if they want to. Just because some folks are tired of killing them isn't a reason to start discouraging their participation in the major PvP area of the game. Really it's a win/win: the killer gets another PK, the killed gets to throw their money out. What's the problem? Suck it up if you want to own B8.

Of course they should be learning, but if nothing else, they're learning not to fear exploding so when they are better, they will be more willing to mix it up.

Quit trying to wreck the game. if you want to run back to your body or other retarded crap go play wow, I haven't been here six years having a good time waiting for the game to become crappier from terrible ideas like this.

Well said Impavid.

I agree with the sentiment Peytros. I am opposed to the idea of imposing some form of death penalty. However some ships and most weapons should be more expensive. I made 10 million in 3 days half assing escort missions. Imagine if I'd been serious. Actually, I don't have to. I've made hundreds of millions from escorts. Even with the economy as it is, increasing prices isn't going hurt anyone but the people that don't think they should have to make credits to play. That being said, the reward for participation in nation conflict sucks. I can make more doing hive skirmishes AND improve my port licenses at the same time. I also think Border Patrol is a cheat.

If you want more challenging opponents, help them improve. When I was doing pvp, I used to send new opponents private messages after a fight about what they did wrong or needed to work on. Berating them on 100 and then bringing up their failure to improve here on the forums isn't going help either of you. Posts like Impavid's are golden. Every newby and some vets such as myself should be made to read it and take it to heart.

I still don't like the previous round of damnd price hikes, mostly because I don't really care for doing escort missions, wich seems to be the only way to really make money in this game now. Mining and trading are also boring, blasting voys gets frustrating when you open up 3 behemoths full of gov batteries, or aquean or silicate. oh, right, im beating a dead horse on this line of thought huh
Jul 17, 2009 FistOfRage link
Yes. A heavy should normally yield around 75,000-300,000 cr. Million credit loads should remain rare and crap loads should drop at the same rate.

A skilled pirate could make a steady fortune killing voys, while someone learning the trade would have a healthy income stream.

Honestly, crap is cheap for a reason. EVERYBODY HAS IT. So why send a five heavy voy loaded with Government Issued Plasma Cannons?

Any economic changes in the near future? We're needing a new horse.

Yes, economic changes are in the near future. That's why they had a dedicated section in the last Newspost.

Well, but you need to ship it so that everyone has it!
Surely not every station produces gov plasma, so need to get it there!
