YES

1) Remove the Avalon.
2) Keep seekers/rockets/mines when you dock AND jump!

If 2) can't be done, then at least make the weapons explode when you leave. It looks stupid when they just vanish.

how about this:
KEEP the avalon
make it so you cant dock if you have weapons flying around(other than mines)

If you're gonna remove the avalon, you might as well remove the sunflares too. Thank you.

Why not get rid of everything but the bus and 1 sector, and everybody ram each other to death. Everyones even and nothing is unbalanced.
Jul 17, 2003 roguelazer link
Why remove the avalon? I guess none of you know where 16 is, eh? Do YOU want to try destroying a ship with 800,000 health using, say, a gauss cannon? My guess is it'll be mobile and possibly multi-sector in 3.3 and that requires bombs for teh bombers.

why? because people kill you with sunflares? adapt.

besides, getting kills doesn't get as easy as firing an avalon into a station. there needs to be some kind of docking timer (kinda like the logoff timer, only shorter).

"A) Remove the avalon."
"B) Make rockets disappear when you dock"

While your add it...remove all rockets and homers....ohh yea also remove all energy weapons too because you know. Those are gonna kill you.

Remove all special engine types and special ships. Make sure everyone has energy of about 25 so you can't turbo ram someone. Make it so that all ship speeds can't go higher than 20(30 turboing)...make everyone's armor 500k so you can't ram someone to death.

Ohh yea don't forget to remove /explode because that way you can't be hurt that way.

yea thats what should happen. So now what have you got SL...a ship ramming game where everyone stops a flag cap by trying to ram someone to death.

Ohh and this way there will be no more pirating. no more n00b killing will occur....perfect RIGHT?

Personally I think that if everyone got thier way...THATS what Vendetta would be at this time.

Please try to enjoy the game as it currently stands. I think you would be a lot happier if you would just play and not complain about people exploiting, complain about what weapons you hate, or complain about who is killing you more.

SF, a dev could kill people with /kill could that be removed to?

I don't want the removal of the avalon, i'd rather have B to happen, this was a option, a or b, what i meant by rockets was avalons (in specific).

I'll complain when i see it fit SF, a game with out people complaining is a game where nothing gets updated.

That was exactly my point. People get killed by Avalons and they whine about it. So by that sort of reasoning I can argue that Sunflares should be taken out too. Touche.
Jul 17, 2003 roguelazer link
The difference is with station exploiting, there is 0% risk to the attacker. With flares, well, at least some one else can attack you.

In another thread incarnate actually said that they might take out Avalons until they can come up with a "Right Way" of dealing with the station nuking exploit. I would personally hate to see it go, it's such a cool looking weapon, and I think either of these fixes would solve the problem just fine:

a) Have a 5-10 second delay from the time you fire an avalon to the time it actually arms itself.
b) Have a 5-10 second delay from the time you fire any weapon to the time the station allows you to dock.

edit: although now that I think about it b) might not solve the problem 'cause I wouldn't put it past some griefers to fire on the station anyway just to get more pk's even if they are issuing. Guess we'll all just have to wait for those bots that come kick your ass if you fire on the station.

Touché!

Arolte, is that the right accent?

I mean unrealistic killing, do ships just disappear when you dock a fighter jet in real life?
Jul 17, 2003 roguelazer link
Maybe a dockign animation during which you can be damaged? You approach the docks with the doors closed, hit enter, the door opens, you go in, the door closes and you are docked.

Remove the god damn Avalon! Yes, it looks amazing... buts its totally not needed right now. OK, so it'll make the frigate virtually indestructable... so what... The frigate don't move, and its not part of any mission or anything, its an interesting spectacle (like the Avalon) and thats about it! Bring it back when the game is further developed....

Secondly, why should weapons magically disappear when you dock or jump? Its totally unrealistic...
Jul 17, 2003 Cmdr. Freeman link
Remove the Avalon? Even though I've been station-nuked my fair share of the time, I disagree.

Leave it in...turn on targetable warheads and have defense bots act like an anti-missile umbrella - they start shooting at incoming Avalons with uber-accuracy. When the avalon gets hit, it fizzles out like a spacecraft. For now, the bots could target JUST AVALONS - once the devs know how to handle the issue of people firing at neutral stations, they could expand the target list and update the AI.

Are targetable warheads really that bad or too much to ask for?

BTW, Icarus, this isn't going to be totally realistic...keep the vanishing warheads bit.
