Yay news! Boo bugs!
It makes me want to test whether a neural network could pilot (and fight) a ship in VO. Hmm.
Neural networks are just a tool. You could build an AI that could pilot a ship in VO with a sufficiently large neural network. You could also build one with a Bayesian network. Or a decision tree. Or just a bunch of static rules and some runtime auto-tuning parameters. :-)
Or you could use this autonomous rule-based system that you then totally hack to be an ad-hoc assortment of static rules.. mostly.. sometimes.. but not other times. Then a decade or so later your features have creeped out the door and down the hallway and take on a life of their own. That's what we do!
In all seriousness, though, it works pretty well (the few cases where it doesn't are mostly ad-hoc dumbness we should fix). It just doesn't work so well for capships, which is why we're probably going to make an all-new system for controlling them.

"... an all-new system for controlling them."
Woot!
Woot!
and potentially adding something from the New Addon/Ship Suggestion Thread.
Come on Greyhound!
Come on Greyhound!
Yes! Add the Greyhound!
Yes! Add another infiniboost hit'n'run-grief ship!
Won't turn for shit, AgY. Which really limits its ability to do anything but run in a straight line. Not exactly griefing tactics.
I vote for the Xi Xang Interceptor. A useful one-gun ship :D.
"useful one-gun ship"
Those terms are in contradiction to each other.
Dr. Lecter :-) You dont need to turn around for hit'n'run.

AgY: you're confused about what real hit and run griefing is. The major problem with Arolte, for example, was the constant running in circles within the same area. Because of the course corrections, while never caught, he was also never chased away from the area.
You truly hit and run, and you're not much of a nuisance. Moreover, if it's already something that can be done with any number of ships . . . what's the problem?

Making it worse doesnt help ...
Dr. Lecter, have you met k'metreq?
I am, of course compelled to lobby for my own Xang Xi Centurion. There are currently no single-port ships that are usable[0] for PVP. It would add some variety.
[0]The Superlight is, of course usable in a fight, but it's so hard to replace that nobody actually does.

At worst (you're still wrong about the whole "it doesn't matter that it can't turn well" thing, but even assuming you weren't), how would doing the exact same thing in a different ship be "making it worse"?
Because the ship youre suggesting is much better at it (compared to the atlas-x)
Go Predator or Greyhound! YARR!!

Much better at it? You already claim you couldn't catch the offending players at all--not that you only got them sometimes or that they were frequently besting your pursuit efforts by skill, but that you never caught up to them because of the ship they flew. Period.
How much more than never won't you be able to catch them in this one?

I swear in the name of The God Emperor, if they release the Greyhound I resub.
