sigh, this thread hurts my head. can we lock it because the parties involved have clearly decided ignorance is bliss and continue to ramble on about how nothing will ever be done despite clear evidence to the contrary.

If providing honest feedback about the way I (and others it seems) feel is "hurting your head", then my apologies.

At some point everyone needs to learn to accept negative feedback, even the VO community, if it/they wish to grow and become better.

However, in the future, I'll strive in the future to be more of a sycophant (like many others) and only post "Wow, things are GREAT" posts from now on. After all that's what it seems is the accepted norm here, with anyone who *dares* to speak otherwise being verbally brow beaten into submission.

For the record, I have no problem with negative feedback, as long as it is informed.

It is one thing to say "You're never going to fix Border Skirmish".

It is a completely different thing to say "We know you're going to fix Border Skirmish, but it would sure be cool if you did it sooner."

To which I would have a more useful response, like "Please keep reporting instances of no-hit problems on your thread, as we're still tracking down a bunch of nasty Heisenbugs related to this."

For the record, I know a fair number of our vets are somewhere between "uncertain" and "embittered" on the state of the game and its perceived progress in the directions they want. I'm not blind.

I didn't expect this to be a particularly "fun" era of gameplay reworking when I embarked on it last summer, especially with all the crap I knew I would have to do to the economy and other areas. Honestly, I put off the economic stuff for years, in part because I knew it would piss a lot of people off, and take time to adjust. This Friendly Fire/Faction thing is a goddamn mess too, and a lot of work.

So, I get that people want to see more real advancement and not so much on the "we made this totally new thing you don't really care about!". But, I have to do what I have to do, based on the perspective and information I have.. whether I'm right or wrong, this game is fundamentally my mess to clean up. People thinking I'm wrong or out-of-touch or.. lying. Hey, whatever, that's up to them. I do my best to inform as accurately as I can, which clearly is pretty hit-or-miss, which is part of why "dated milestones" don't make a lot of sense when you spend like 2 months tracking an explosive memory leak on the server. If the dates on everything keep getting pushed back to ???, would that really be inspiring and helpful?

Anyway, I just gotta keep my head down for now and move forward. And perhaps I shouldn't be so defensive when people are misinformed about what we're doing. I'm human too.

I think this thread has.. run its course, far beyond the poor originator's intent. I'm locking for now, people can.. bring up issues elsewhere if they so desire.
