Hmm, any idea on some free advertisement to get more people playing? An idea being post links in personal blogs, myspace pages, and websites. And btw, great game so far, still needs improvement and work, but very nice. Still pondering whether or not to sub, and if I do I'll be on the suggestion forums alot :)

What do you need more people for?

genka: "What do you need more people for?"

That attitude is exactly what is wrong with this game.

One would think if you enjoyed this game and were grateful to the devs for providing it, you'd want them to make more than a few bucks from the regulars.

Nevermind the practical side of it, y'know, like maybe being able to find a full group for missions? Maybe actually meeting another human player somewhere other than greyspace?

The M in MMO stands for Massively, not Micro. You people that hate new players here are so bloody selfish.

Well, I figure from genka's response that this would be why Vendetta Online's pop is so low. Well I'll say the game is still awesome, Dev's definitely seem to be wanting to make changes based off of players "wants" and "needs" which is a huge step compared to the big leagues aka Blizzard and the makers of EVE. But the one draw back it seems, is the "cliquish" nature of the players that I've noticed thus far. That's gotta change before this game is gonna get over that 100s mark, and from reading VO's history, 100ish has been the max player to play for quiet a while. I'll play a few more trials before choosing whether or not its worth shelling out 40-60ish bucks on a sub. And if I do join, I do have the intention of trying to help improve the game, it has an insane amount of potential.

Character growth is actually on the rise now that it has settled post promotion.

it was down to 46 new characters per day 2 weeks ago and is now back upto 65 on average 188 characters per day and 900 per week all trending upwards at the moment

oh and this just in, there are more Itani characters than UIT

I don't hate new people. I just hate old "ideas."

And yes, I agree that more people playing would make the game a bit more fun for me, but the fact of the matter is, I'm not a developer and don't have any standing to say "we" need more people. At best, I can say "I'd like there to be more people," and hope Incarnate says "Yeah, I agree! Anyone have any clever ideas for cheap effective advertising?"

Now, if I say "We need more people!" I might as well append "and I think the developers are idiots and should do whatever the fuck I tell them." Not only am I then putting myself at the same level as the people that have spent years of their life developing the game by saying "we," I'm also implying that I know better than anyone actually involved what's good for the game with "need." Particularly amusing is the fact that I barely even play nowadays, and as such am about as justified in making these sort of demands as a crab.

Crabs are sweet though.

Please note, people who might not know, genka is one of our resident trolls. He says "What do you need more people for?" because he knows you're going to latch onto that and start bitching about it. There are threads where genka makes a valid contribution, but they are much fewer than the number of threads he posts in. Just to let you know.

And I personally think that while more people are obviously good, the devs need to finish some of the projects that they've started before more people will readily stick around. I think they know this, and are thus working hard on that front. Once things are more fixed I think there will be ample opportunities for promotion, both official and unofficial, and a greater likelihood of people staying.

@diqrtpe - yep I've noticed the improvements the dev's have made thus far, still a long ways away true, but yes much improvement.

@genka - I'm not ordering Dev's around either, and just because a suggestion was made doesn't mean that its meant for Dev's alone, or I would have posted that in the suggestion forum. I mean the player community needs to push it. With only 4 dev's I'm sure there hands are plenty full right now. Doesn't mean the player community needs to wait for Dev's.

Point being, I just wanted to see if we could get more than 100ish on at a time, and more to the near 1000 on at once. With more people playing (and paying) the more resources the Dev's will be able to use, of course this is theory.

@Spence - good news, now just need them to stick around >:)

My point isn't that it's a bad idea to talk about how fun vendetta is on your stupid-ass blog. My point is that you're a pre-teen myspace-using [poopyhead - edited with love by Whistler], not a developer, and as such your over-familiarly tone is offensive.

Dial it down, genka. I get your point, but let's not be too tough on the new people.

kerrade: One of the better ways of getting higher player densities is through game Events, that we can advertise via email and the like. Like.. a race around the galaxy ("Deneb Run"), specialty capship battle, that sort of thing. I welcome ideas for new types of Events, especially if they don't require all sorts of specialty stuff to be created specifically for them.

Rofl @ genka I don't use myspace for one, and I'm A+,MCP,MCSA and working on geting CCNA certified, sure I'm not a programmer but chances are I'm far more technically knowledgeable than you are atm. And before you come back with some smart arse remark, save it, WOW is always recruiting some more trolls.

@Incarnate, sounds great, just was suggesting at aiming at those that don't know about the game to begin with.

Yeah, I wonder who could be counted on to help the devs with marketing and advertising...

Hrmm....

It doesn't have to be professional advertisement, just word of mouth on the net, as simple as that, as long as it brings more permanent people.

... for fear of being in opposition, I actually like the silence and tranquility of VO. I like the fact that I know half the players (the others are usually in transition or are alts being built). That is why I stopped EVE.

Then again, I don't have to live off this so here's to ya devs. I'm voting again tomorrow from home, work and public ip address:)

I've managed to get a few BSG fans and my roommate trying VO. Some of them are hard hooked now.

BSG and VO share a similar romance.

I can hear Leber's "testimonials" now...

"Vendetta Online saves me the trouble of having to worry about finding a designated driver on Friday nights; I just park my butt in front of the computer with a couple bottles of tequila and make a complete fool of myself online! And the best part is, I don't get any DUIs on my record, no matter how many accidents I get into!"
