Protest against exclusion of CNN articles

Couldn't these things at least be posted in corvus space? Would give those stations a bit of persnality.
Most of the itani/serco propaganda crap could probably go into their systems too.

I'd rather see more random stuff than a few "quality" news. but I'm easily amused..

I'm not opposed to the general idea of certain news content going to certain places. I am opposed to burning development time on it.. right now. We want to rework the news system (along with the missions system, etc) but right now we have a lot bigger fish to fry.

The news system is what it is. It's imperfect and has some serious issues (some of which only the Guides are really aware of).. aside from being horribly underutilized by the game, and largely useless aside from player content and the occasional trade item report.

For the moment, I stick by my original guidelines. I prefer posts that sound more like mainstream news, that are not overly contentious or inflammatory (particularly to specific individuals).

I too would like to voice my support for the posting of the CNN articles.

"For the moment, I stick by my original guidelines. I prefer posts that sound more like mainstream news, and that are not overly contentious or inflammatory (particularly to specific individuals)."

I did not see what was inflammatory about the article (if I'm simply blind pleas point it out to me (not sarcastic)). The actual Panis was jokeing about being a spreading virus so I doubt he's offended, though I'd like to hear his take on it.

I would like to thank incarnate for weighing in on this issue, and I agree that there are bigger tasks at hand (like spraying down bugs with Raid).

I too support putting CNN stories in the news. Inc, by no means am I trying to act like I knwo more about game design than you. If articles like CNN do not fit with the grand plan for VO, then I am totally okay with them not being included, when that grand plan starts panning out a bit more. But right now when we have so little player content, I think it makes much more sense to have slightly looser standards in an effort to add a bit more to the game in the mean time.

Also, about the "inflammatory" comments, I think he was referring to the "hissy fit" phrase applied to Miharu. I know it's not much, but considering how long he/she's been around and how much involvement they've had with this game, I wouldn't be surprised if any and all digs were off limits.

The inflammatory thing was more of a general statement, but the CNN article was contentious about a variety of things (hissy fits, how rarely certain guilds bathe, nonsensical war declarations, and other stuff). It's all well and good as long as everyone takes it in good fun (and as long as it's intended in good fun). But when they don't take it in good fun, it becomes a giant administrative headache for me.

In this particular case, we had several specific complaints about the submitted CNN newspost (from different individuals, totally different reasons, some emailed to me), without it ever actually going into the game. In the entire history of Roguelazer's Vendetta Chronicle, I never had a single complaint (and that was a long time ago, but people were just as vocal and did know how to reach me). As Impavid said, "people seem to enjoy it, except for a few haters". That's nice, but I have to deal with the haters, and I'm not sure how few they actually are. The more time I'm doing administrative stuff, like.. say.. writing this post, the less I'm doing things like.. reworking the design of the Hive, and writing new missions, which is what I planned to do today.

So, here we are. Nothing has changed. I think there is still tremendous range of what can be written (under the general guidelines above, and those already posted to the news thread) without offending anyone, and in keeping with a certain amount of immersion context that denotes a reasonably professional "news wire".

Those things you mentioned are called "spin".

Anyway, thanks for responding though Inc.

PS Hissy fit garnered me a complaint? If that's the standard, just tonight Foo Fighter said I got "pissy" or something, should I e-mail you a complaint about that? Some people have too much time on their hands. Time much better spent bathing...

Thanks for your speedy reply, sorry to have eaten so much your time with this, I understand it is limited. keep up the good work on the hive, its progressed alot in the past while, should be interesting when it can be actually cleared out of a system by killing the system's levi and all the queens and probably the overseerers,

So... what's so inflammatory again? I reread those articles and can't find it. >.>

EDIT: By this I mean what actually is, not what people who hate CNN, etc say is. >.>

Ah, you want the form of inflammatory. I'm sorry, but you'll have to venture out of the cave for that one.

Just do us all a favor and don't bother coming back, please.

I already answered that. It wasn't inflammatory, but it was contentious on several topics.

By "people who hate CNN" you may mean "individuals about whom you have written a mocking or derisive article." Since it seems to not be that uncommon of a reaction.

Can we move on?

Are you calling my character's biography defamatory? That's mean :P

Also, tons of stuff that makes it in there is contentious. Look at all the propaganda :x
