There has been a GoonFleet in this game for, what, almost a day, and we're already getting "lol t1 frig noob" jokes here?

Because of Concord, there is no "dueling" as such in EVE in the high sec. space. In low sec. and 0.0 you're just simply attacked. It can, and also does happen in high sec. if your corporation or alliance is at war with another, or 2...or 3.:) You can "duel" between corporation members without a Concord response, that is allowed for practice, training, and testing.

EVE players, especially the heavy PvP'ers, will know when to back out of a fight. There is no dishonor in backing out there. I've seen 1 death set guys back up-wards of 6 months work or better, especially if their egg gets cracked. I won't get into the strategies of tanking or weapons, just suffice to say you know when to back out of range, or warp out all together.

I would say invite your new EVE friends to your guilds, and let them realize in time, that death in VO isn't the horror of an EVE death.

BTW, hi guys, it's been a looooong time since I seen these boards, couple years anyway. Looks like there been a ton of changes, new ships, even a quest series for a ship.(?) Anyway I was thinking of re-subbing next month for a while, so I thought I'd come by here and see what the forums look like these days, and saw this thread, so I thought I'd answer. Hope ya don't mind. :)

Cheers!

Hi Ghostwolf! Whoa looks like all the old VO players went to go play EVE! (I'm LeberMac in EVE, too...)

Yay for goonswarm peeps coming to VO!

And, Smittens, as your direct supervisor and Lieutenant, I hereby give you 20 demerits for starting an "honor" thread on the VO forums. BAD SMITTY! BAD!

Yaaaaaaawn.

Sounds like there be some n00blets that need killin'

And Leebs, wouldn't you rather he started it here, instead of the [ITAN] forums? ;)

Let people play as they like, let them fight as they like, let them use the weapons they like.

Stop comparing VO to EVE!
Jun 05, 2007 slime73 link
I don't get why all these people say "in EvE blah blah happens and we blah blah blah blah blah...". As Toshiro said, this is not EVE!. Although this is a space game, the gameplay is totally different, so there is no way to compare eve tactics to Vendetta tactics or honour.
Jun 05, 2007 LeberMac link
Um, yeah. EVE-style tactics will get you killed very very quickly in VO. Unless you're talking about broad general strategy.

It's better to use strategy/tactics from Halo or Unreal or Quake in VO

The game is what the game is. How it is played is up to the individual. Let new players figure things out for themselves.

If some tactic becomes a sufficiently gigantic problem, then we need to change the game. Not expect a gazillion players to adhere to some vague idea. This is the way it's always been, as all the previous "honor" threads likely indicate. And no, I'm NOT talking about changing the game in this case, but just as a general rule.

VO is supposed to be a philosophically open-ended game where people find their own way of existing (albeit, light on content at present). Things would be awfully boring if everyone, everywhere were Good and Honorable all the time.

These threads give me a headache, and since everyone has said basically the same thing for a couple of pages, I'm going to go ahead and lock this.
