ive seen lots of ppl talking about the prom like its an awsome fearful ship which best method to destroy is by ganking up.
It has awsome armor, yes, but what else?
The spin torque is near that of the moth, and i guess its manuverability must suck.
So, could anyone care to enlighten me?
P.S: I cant buy one yet, all i wrote was based on my observation of its stats.

It's actually incredibly maneuverable. At least, it was last time I had a Serco alt with high enough stats to buy one. More like an Axia Guardian Wraith than a moth. Plus the massive armour and weapons loadout ability.
They're also mostly talking about the SkyCommand variant.
Yeah. It handles kinda like an Axia Wraith or a Revenant, but the SCP has 21000 armour.
If you know how to fly a prom, its deadly, but if you meet a pilot in space that has patience, even a SCP will run away from a cent mk2, its more funny when the prom pilot is whining...
what's not da matta wit da prom? what's not da matta wit you?!
The SkyCommand Assault Prometheus loaded up with an Advanced Gatling Turret, and 2 Sunflare Rocket Launchers (the most popular setup) has the single most armour of any ship. 21000 is a substantial number; it's enough that using a FC and double N3's, I can expend an entire Power Cell without killing it. However, rarely in a fight will someone get that chance. With the weapons mentioned, (some of the heaviest around), the Prom flies with a weight:mass ratio of 26.66... which is just slightly more than a fighter loaded with heavy weapons, such as double Gauss. Hitting a Prom can be difficult. No matter how good you fly, it takes a pretty long time.
It's Spin Torque (which is a positive quality) however seems to be a weakness. Although it's pretty high, when coupled with a weight of 14000kg (because of AGT + Flares) it turns out to be about average. However, from a few tests it would seem that when comparing turning capabilities, what's truly important is a ship's design. The number can almost be disregarded entirely. Not having flown a Prom, I can't vouch for it's capabilities, maneuvering wise. I've seen new pilots lose control pretty easily, and experienced pilots maintain it pretty well, but I can only assume that the way the ship handles along with it's wide frame balances things out.
Anyone who equips a weapon with such a wide frontal area of attack is just asking to be shot in the back though. That's referring to both flares and AGT.

The strafing power of the prom is what makes it scary. Yes, it turns very slowly, but it strafes like a vulture. The agt and flare combo is what makes it especially deadly. The reason being that the agt doesn't require much concentration to aim. So one can spam away with agt mindlessly and still hit the target while concentrating on aiming flares.
I think the only thing wrong with the prom is it's too accessible (too inexpensive).
I doubt anyone would complain about the power a prom has if it cost 200k.

Why does that matter? Money has no meaning! It's trivial to earn millions of credits in this universe...
To the Serco it has more meaning than the Itani... and I disagree. the last thing the Serco need are more expensive ships. It's the IBG and valk that need the price boost (and level boost, at least for the IBG)
SVG is better than the IBG. Pretty much everyone is saying that. Why should they be available at the same level?
[Edit] Whistler, I realize now this may look like me picking another fight with Cunjo, which I assure you is not the purpose of this post. This idea of making the SVG and IBG given at the same level has been mentioned a few times recently, and I just now have decided to post my opinion on the subject

I think all the premium ships need a price hike, however, given the power and armor difference between the prom and the valk, the prom should cost more (or create an L-port varient of the valk and watch the serco bitch up a storm).
Either way, for the money, the prom still has near twice the armor as a valk and an Lport, which no Itani variant has. It should cost a premium. I doubt money would mean nothing after a player goes through 50 200k proms in one night, and we'd see fewer new players flying proms exclusively, which will make them better pilots (whether they want to be or not).

the solution to the prom is to get rid of its AGT, put 3 small ports on it like a valk, and keep the armor.
Then the valk and prom will have the same port option, but the valk has its speed, while the prom has its armor.

Speed is much, much more important than armour. Taking away the L port from the Prometheus would make it utterly useless (again). Why not stop bitching and just play the game?
Edit: Yes, I knew you were most likely joking, Norse.

i wasnt joking, if they cant use 1 neut and 2 sunnys and still pwn on a battle field with a prom, they really really suck, and shouldnt be flying at all
I agree with Norse. Another option: create a 1 L port 2 S port valk. Half the armor of it's nemesis, but a bit qicker.
The simple answer shadoen is to have a go at all sorts of ships and see what suits you .
The SCP is a flying monster , but a well flown light fighter can nip away at at . I actually think that changing ship characteristics wouldn't add much to the overall gameplay at the moment .
Then again what would I know? Just an ancient miner pottering about space in an old centaur .....
Ecka

Incarnate!
1L port X-2 Valk for, uh, testing purposes, please!
P.S. Centered, of course.

Now that would be fun.
Swarm-spamming valks, heh.
