Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm new to this game and was just wondering when Capital Ships are planned on being implemented?
If anyone could ballpark it if no specific date is set, that'd be great.
Thanks!

Soon™.
That is to say, there is no specified time of arrival yet, but it's nearer than, say, walking around in stations.
Edit: Correct ™ sign substituted. In my defense: I was at work, on a non-mac machine.

When they're ready. I certainly don't want them until they are ^.^

do like i do: realize they'll never be in-game during your lifetime.
if by any surreal chance they do, you'll have the surprise of your lifetime.

You can find capital ships in Deneb B-12. You can dock with some of them, but you can't pilot them (the people above were referring to being able to pilot a capship).
Capital ships appearing more frequently in the game and having more purpose: very soon (Kourier implementation, etc).
Capital ships being owned by players: This year, I expect.

Okay, cool.
What types of ships are planned on being implemented?
Are there any plans on a carrier?
And if so, how would fighter launching/attacking be handled?

You might want to log on the game and find out.

Fine fine, I'll tell you;
Ships that can carry other ships (The Trident? I thought It had a port, the Frigate/ offically named "Heavy assault cruiser") Have a internal docking bay. The player who docks in the ship controls when he leaves/enters (though that could easily change)
The HAC allows players to take control of a turret if you want.
Uh, I don't remember if you can repair or reload in 'em.
I don't think they have a type of AI that can dock inside of a moving capital ship (that might be tricky) But I know that they could make them, if they wanted to.
Eh, they are going to be able to do this when the finish making the engine that runs the AI and objects on the server work 100%. This should help speed stuff along.

The Trident has a docking bay. Unless they removed it. It's been ages since I saw one. Or a Constellation. Those have docking bays, too.
You can r&r in them.
And I'll say again: Sooner than walking around in stations.

right next to landing on planets.
Whoa, planetary combat could be pretty cool... it'd be neat to fly a space sim that actually took gravity into account.

Uh oh, you mean PLAYERS or do you mean GUILDS?

You want a space sim that takes gravity into account? You want Karma. It's a game for RISC OS back in the 90s which only ever made it to 'Flight Trainer' stage (basically, a demo). Everything in the game was modelled according to Newtonian physics (yes, no pesky speed of light limits), including the movement of planets and moons.
You could sling shot around black holes (very, very carefully) if you wanted to. Manually getting into a stable orbit around a planet was tricky, but possible.

yes samual.penn lets do that and make every dogfight last for 8 hours!
He means PLAYERS. GUILDS are motley collections of grabasstic shit that surely deserve no special access/treatment above the individual players.
=D
yeah lecter. guilds don't even have a bank!
(woot!)

Norsemen, I was replying to SuperMegaMynt with some details on a game that did what he was asking for. Nowhere did I ask for the VO flight model to be changed, which is highly unrealistic but pretty damn good as far as playability goes.
