Arolte, who the hell are you to decide who is a "good player" and "bad player"! LOL.. You know whats funny... by your own logic, you are in fact a "bad player" as you obviously bear a grudge against me, and then there is your station nuking...Also, why is a person who hates a particular nation a "bad player" exactly? Just out of interest, if you were a guide, what would you say to me if i went into Sector 3 and blasted everyone in sight?

Sorry rogue, for some reason I thought you had posted here saying guide was too soft.
As n00b and I talked in game, I was very civil with the guide cause I KNEW if I wasn't, things would deteriate rapidly. IE I COULD have replied "WTF??? WATCH IT??..." and watch as the convo deteriated into eventually me being muted/kicked/banned. And THEN the SH*T would have hit the fan... A guide HAS to be thick skinned and brush off insults galore and upset players, etc. It's just the nature of the job. And yes, it IS thankless. And yes, there's a LOT of burn out. I will also say that I appreciated tonight seeing a guide say "A guide has logged on".

They are operating within the allowed perameters of the game. If the devs dont want home sector killing, or newb killing, then introduce game systems to deal with it.

Fair warning: We're being a little more tolerant with this thread so as to clear the air, but flames and off-topic posts may be removed to avoid having to close it.
I have never had the opertunity to speak with a guide on any terms(somewhat glad, and unhappy about this), however, it seems that either their actions rarely return results or they aren't on when I am. I say this due to the amount of verbal abuse and swearing I often see in game, including some directed at team members over team chat.
I will note however that on the rare occurences I hear of a guide speaking to someone(either in game or out of game such as IRC/AIM/boards), they seem to be harshist on the, for lack of a better term, victim. I can not follow this logic too well, but of course I am unable to hear 2 sides of the conversation, and the side I do hear is most likely biased(only once have I seen someone say they deserved to get a good whack on the ear). A feature that the devs might want to implement, to help aid(but in some cases probably hinder efforts) is to have an action to list those guides online(by the guidexxxx number as seen in furball's post) so that it is possible to message them to look into a current problem. I understand that this would also have them spending more time looking into problems rather then playing the game, but that is one sacrifice made when helping admin or moderate a game server, is that you lose alot of game time managing things.

We need lots more guides. As Pyro and Scuba Steve 9.0 can attest, there was a blue (Midknight Warrior) online today talking a lot of trash. The log was saved by me and Pyro, copies available by request. Suffice to say that a guide would have improved the situation manyfold. So devs, go recruit some trustable guides! (/me watches his name on the list and wills the little line through it to vanish)

Er...kinda long, but I guess it makes its point well. Yes this is just the sort of thing a Guide would put a stop to if one were on. The devs are quite busy with the next version at the moment, but they are aware that more Guides are needed and that some people are willing.

Pyro: i believe it is just a flag on an account saying that this account has guide priveleges. I think i figured this out because i think this is how the server tells admins from normal peoples, and i also think that admins use different clients to use the magic admin control panel of +5 fixing.
