"hitting on icarus"
Hehe... Icarus the stud... :P

Ditto to Icarus's above post.

More personal experience today. I was chasing Janelle (now known as Spongebob Squarepants on Serco) throughout the galaxy, as he was griefing newbies in buses ("I like killing newbs, they make funny newb sounds when they die"). I finally cornered him in 4, made him retreat to 7, and engaged him. Then UncleDave showed up. Totally oblivious to the situation, he engaged and caused me to break combat with Janelle. Maybe I could just say he's a pirate and helps those of his ranks. I dunno, I sure wish I could be team 0.

So Janelle is Spongebob Squarepants... Yeah, he's been attacking people unprovoked, and is basically a Valk jock. Actually, he was griefing in 15 yesterday, so me, Roguelazer, and Arolte banded together to kill him. Me and Rogue were in busses, and we still made him turn on his ass and run. >:D

rogue is always in a bus :D

as are you :D

cheers

don't worry Icarus, don't worry. We will speak again when 20 newbies are in fact chasing you. We will speak again then :D

Hey, leave Icarus alone. He's a lot better than these "new" pirates, and he keeps quite a few of them under control unbeknownst to you.

pff, I'm not going to let him be easy even if he himself states : bring it on.

sheesh, now a man can't even make a joke

besides, It would have been a nice picture :D. Besides, you could just replace the name of icarus with the name of any other pirate.

cheers

Hehe... I have nothing against Icarus, he's a cool guy. I just like bussing aces... >:D

Look, I see green dot and red dot with a bunch of yellow ones. You honestly think Im gonna stop to ask questions? No, Im gonna try and eliminate the red dot.

*dang* I still can't target those evil yellow dots that keep hurting players.. We should be able to kill all the evil yellowdots, they shouldnt be allowed to be invulnerable when the rest of us aren't.

*whine*

(actually, shooting a nuke out of orbit into a "pffft" style implotion would be kinda nifty)

I really like the idea of a team 0.

I'm usually (remark "usually") not hostile - i like to defend my home sector and help out others... I'm not that good a pilot, but it's still my favorite role to play. The idea of making a team without it being a real team, is great. Traders and mercenaries with a "neutral" trading sector instead of a home with a flag - could work =)

dudes... like if we had a nation for just neutral peoples... they would have no nation sector... they would be drifters... *COUGHMARKETINGCOUGH*youwouldhavetoplayabout1monthtogetaneutralchar*COUGHCOUGH*

see. these players would be created and have a random home station, maybe thats how all players should start, and they join a nation judging on what they feel. hm?
/me raises eyebrow

No sheep, there is no nation for "neutral" players. The "Neutral Territories" is as much of a government as Itani or Serco is. When I mean neutral, I mean the gray team that the robots are on. There's friendly fire—no national identity. No "well you're a gold/red/blue so I'm going to kill you" stuff. Totally unaligned with any government.

In the Vendetta MMORPG information pages...

"Characters will begin as part of one of these three major factions. A character's alignments with factions may shift, however, and they may also become involved with a number of other, fringe factions who serve their own interests. Each of the Nations has its own starting advantages, lending themselves to certain activies which have a significant place in the Nation's cultural background. However, these starting advantages are not absolute. The intent is to allow characters to become whatever they wish, but the road will not always be easy, and it may mean contending with the political and social forces of the universe."

Arolte, team 0 (the bot team/neutral team, which happens to induce a green color on ships) does take friendly damage. The bots just have a hard time shooting each other because they dodge like crazy.

It would be technically possible to introduce an independent team with a home sector chosen randomly from a set. At least, I think it would be. There are probably some assumptions about this at a few places in the code that we would have to reevaluate, but it could be made to work. Whether it's a good idea to do I have no idea.
Jun 09, 2003 sheepdog link
SirCamps, i dont mean like the neutral territories, i ment like the bot team, and you would spawn in a random statoin when you first join with a green bus. And depending on what things happen, you could 'Join' a nation like that, being a rouge untill you are completly willing to comit to a nation. This way, every player can experiment with what ever nation they want to... Thats the message i was trying to get from my post. But if there was this group/green players, they could be pirates and the whatnot.
Jun 09, 2003 Arolte link
Err... that's interesting. I really thought one of the devs said friendly fire was turned off for bots. Guess not. Must've been some form of hallucination induced by lack of sleep.

Anyway, I think it would be cool to either have friendly fire turned on for all teams, or at the very least offer a nation with no home anywhere that just kind of roams around as a bunch of freelancing pilots. Or instead of worrying about that, maybe The Neutral Territories can be them. Take that flag away outta s3, leave s3 in there just as it is (allowing everyone to dock), and turn friendly fire on. The color yellow should remain, since it's the coolest out of all three.

=)

No offense to anyone but my question is why do we keep going over the same information regarding pirates and killing etc when in truth it is accomplishing nothing (besides venting, which there are better places for).

These forums usually work this way. People repeat the same info over and over. Even if it's rephrased differently. Sometimes the devs pick up on it and use the suggestions... while other times they ignore it. Anyway, get used to it. Hehe.

yeah, people, say a lot of the same stuff over, and over again here dude.... you might as well join in.
