We had some other stuff in the pipe for this version, which ended up being too buggy for release, so it'll have to wait until next week. In the meantime, enjoy the Radar Extender and tell me how it all works.
Did this finally correct the "I can see red dots out to 5000m on my radar in storms" thing?
Yes. Also, multiple Storm Radar Extenders stack :)
Oooo...
So, uhh, why do I have full range in storms without buying the gizmo?
PS: Also, the client just segfaulted. No core dump, either.

Why are N3's showing as available but red in grey space stations? I thought even Serco and Itani who could buy them could only get them in nations space. Also, why can I buy red equipment, but not equip it, but if someone else buys it and gives it to me, then I can equip it? Kinda pointless to have the rule when it's so easilly end run.
Why to fight the war on drugs if people buy them anyway, despite all we try to do to shut drug trafficking down?
Just because something can be done another way doesn't mean the official stance of a group supports that way, especially something illegal. No point to that law then.

Uh... Riiiiiiight. So, anyway, back to my question.
EDIT: Hey moldy, way to change your analogy post-response, still doesn't fit. Maybe try a third time?

tumble: probably because it's broken. We'll look at that next week.
We can't all be perfect like you, tumble.
I notice the "show activity in the bar" button and worse, the proximity warning, are reset every time you start VO (they turn off). This is in that favorite OS of everyone, Windoze. It's getting kinda annoying having to turn both on every time I launch the game.
The above happens in OSX as well. 10.4.8.
Do you all properly exit VO by logging off and then selecting Quit from the main menu? If not, then there's no guarantee that your settings will get properly saved. If so, then, like inc said, there's a bug.
Ok, I forget to save the bar notification setting, and the proximity settings are saved when you log out.

tumblemonster: Hmm. ok...
Not being able to buy an addon doesn't mean you can't use it. The station is just refusing to sell it to you (for various reasons). Someone else can buy it for you and then drop it for you to pick up, but as long as you fufill the license reqs you are able to equip it.
Red addons should not be equipable regardless of whether you bought it yourself or someone else bought it and gave it to you.
What addon are you able to do this with?
The NeutIII weapon visibility is a side effect of other economy things.
You used to not be able to see addons you couldn't buy, but now they are visible and you can't buy them.

N3s are Red but unpurchasable in every station everywhere, however, I can equip them if someone else gives them to me. Same goes for Ultra Charge Batteries: red everywhere but unpurhcasable, but equipable from someone else. On the other hand, deniphase mining beams are red but purchasable, but I cannot equip them at all.
It seems that special requirement items are visible but not purchasable but equip-able, where as level locked items are visible and purchasable but not equip-able.
It's all a bit confusing.

It is a bit strange, and we probably need to handle specialty items (like the N3 and ultra-charge) a bit differently.
I should be able to use N3's (or some other special item) for being a pre-order customer, grumpfl....
Pre-order customers already got early access to the game at launch time, and like an extra month for free or something?
I'm ok with making some (not-imbalancing) stuff available to people based on subscription length.. ie, a special 3-months-subscribed addon. Because that can be achieved by anyone. But not just generically, forever, based on how old-school you are.. that's pretty unfair to newer players.
Anyway, we're now pretty off-topic. Let's keep this specific to problems or issues that crop up in 1.7.5.

What does this storm radar extender do?
