How do ship purchases work at Corvus? Because I have admire standing with them and there are no license requirements for the ships yet I still can't buy them.

Maybe Doak doesn't sound professional to everyone, but I can see where he's coming from. Guild is working hard as hell on this (and/or as much as they can, since this is part-time for them if I understand correctly). But, regardless of the circumstances, the effect is the same; people are leaving. Some people leave before the tutorial finishes, so obviously this proves one point in the thread. But others are leaving because of a lack of new content and/or bugs n' stuff. A lot of us here keep ingame under the premise (and dare I say near-religious dogma) of "it's still in development, still in the works, we'll be patient and wait for the light". Unfortunately, most gamers, especially hardcore ones, don't share in that belief and have or will move on. The MDF Gaming Group, which happened to be somewhat of a decent portion of PA, up and left after mere weeks out of pure frustration. Even I've taken a break from the game... the fact that I never canceled my subscription shows that I obviously still care, but the game simply caused me more stress than was worth. From time to time I start threads on the PA forums asking on how things are progressing (too lazy to come here till now), but nothing yet has made me want to come back in. The fact of the matter is the game is currently not in the best of situations here. Parts of pretty much everything needs updating or tweaking or fixing. To give folks a feel about how "they" (aka outsiders, players we dont know, random folk that play other thingies) feel, I can quote an unnamed MDF member I heard ranting over voice comms a couple days ago:

"I just don't understand what's going on with Vendetta. They always talk about fixing and tweaking and adding new content. The only time I've ever heard of a game company doing that in such a big way was during a test phase of a game. Why would they bring out something from the depths of test servers when it's only half-finished and filled with bugs..."

Yes, I know. Guild isn't ready to advertise for this very reason. Unfortunately, no secrets can be kept from the gaming community. Word of mouth eventually lets everyone know, regardless of how much you tell folk to keep their mouths shut. Though I'm not personally all doom and gloom yet, it's starting to look to me like we've got quite the hole to dig ourselves out of here.

I blame Finster.

And about the Corvus thingy, I might be insane but I remember having to get over 900 with em' before I saw everything. Try employing traders to get procurements done for ya... if it's at 900 and still no dice.. um.. o.O

this is seriously veering off-topic. can we lock this thread and continue the discussion into a separate thread?
Sep 10, 2006 genka link
For the record, the MDF were a bunch of closed-minded loony sheep, with about a half a metric poop-ton of video-gamer prejudices per person. The quote Quirc provides illustrates that point perfectly.
Not to mention the fact fact fact fact* that of the twelve or so bastards that played the game only two ever spoke, and what they said was the exact same thing, pretty much word for word and amounted to "OMG LOLZ, CRAFTIN!!!!1!1!!!1"

PS: The fact fact fact fact fact fact fact* that you haven't cancelled your subscription only makes you vain and condescending, not supportive.

PPS: What the hell is the point of making a new thread for discussion not related to the original topic of the thread if you want to lock this thread anyway? Why not just say that topic of the conversation moved from the relative non-event of a pretty damn uninteresting update to the fun-filled world of bashing a bunch of group-thinking newbs united under the moniker of MDF?

*I just wanted to be more redundant than Quirc

how is this thread off topic when the topic is VENDETTA 1.6.15????!! this is a thread about the new update and our opinions on it. lay off, upper case.

i never once said anything about "worthless substance" or "useless UI" ananzi. what thread were you reading?

i made my opinion about substance over symantics because of the word-play of "click the leave station button" comment.

i want some of the new product that has been in the making for some time now; gimmie some capships. hell the ratbots came out pre-ready stages. why not allow player flown cappies, even if it's only the tridents for starts.

yes, the tutorial IS important. but keep in mind that the trolling in the [100]chat doesnt help them either.

for the record, having ppl focus on helping introduce VO to newbies is going to leave a better taste in their mouths than the tutorial alone. this is an MMO and we cant forget that people make up the game atmosphere.

s**t, i'll gladly spend my online time doing FULL TIME mentoring for newcommers to this game, but i wont do it if there's:

A) trolling against newbs
B) trolling AS newbs
C) nothing for me in return (just want some free time online)

otherwise, isnt that what the guides are supposed to do? that's what the term "guide" means to me, not just resolving issues.

the updates are getting closer to 2.0, and all i want to see is ppl i enjoyed playing with/against since 1.0 still around to play with/against.

>Doc. Dork said> C) nothing for me in return (just want some free time online)

Wow. You have to be american.

i have to be smart.

unlike you genka, i dont pay for things to waste my time.
Sep 10, 2006 genka link
Don't you know? I don't pay for vendetta!
Duh!

Edit: Is this kid for real? I mean, seriously, this is beyond the basic stereotypes...
Sep 10, 2006 macguy link
Did he just ask for a free subscription for mentoring new people?
HA!

Mentoring newbs is done because you want mentor points and because you're a good person who positively contributes to the vendetta online community.

again... did either of you READ what i WROTE?!?!

i wouldnt do it if:
<insert 3 conditions>

OTHERWISE the guides should be doing this!
Sep 10, 2006 genka link
Alrightythen, seeing as how it's pretty obvious that you think we're not understanding you point, why don't you try explaining it in detail, leaving nothing off, and using short words?
Hell, maybe I really did miss your point.

DrDoak007 (alternative name), FULL TIME MENTOR

-no gameplay, just mentoring
-only chatting on [1]chat, occasional [100]chat for quick answers
-dont care for the mentoring points, that's not why i am offering this
-dont want to pay full price for this type of account. that is a "guide's" job. (guide = employee of Guild Software).

is that straight foreward?
Sep 10, 2006 maq link
"guide = employee of Guild Software"
No not really. As far as i know guides don't get anything. It's a volunteer thing
Sep 10, 2006 drdoak007 link
s**t, uppercase, NOW this thread is off topic.... lol
Sep 10, 2006 genka link
Uh, no, not really. Vague suggestions and wink-wink nudge-nudge won't do it. If you're looking to get to play for free in return for relating to newbs your quite dubious knowledge, you should say so, not imply it with egomaniacal classifieds.
Sep 10, 2006 macguy link
No matter how you say it, you're not getting a free account that allows you to connect to the servers, even if you're bared from leaving the station, or you're just in a chat room.

If you want to help noobs and give advice without paying for an account, use IRC, because as far as I know, you can chat in any channel from IRC correct? That is if it's working right now.
Sep 10, 2006 drdoak007 link
the free acount is not what my suggestion was about. not once has my suggestion been about personal gain for any of my characters.

i like how even after i re-worded my comments so that a 4yr old blind child could understand it, that's all you got out of it.

the biggest complaint throughout this thread has been about how the tutorial and the chat doesnt help newbies. i offered my services as a FULL TIME mentor as some of us should or could.

but why should i pay full price for a job that we have ppl to do it already? that's all i wanted to portray. we have guides, we have devs, the tutorial itself wont work for everyone, even after it's fixed. these ppl should be able to help newbs while ingame.

i have a payed account already, and i have no problems continuing my account for my own gain/enjoyment. but i will be more selfish with that account because i can. if there was some non-ingame retribution for my efforts as a full time mentor, i would be more willing to use my time that way.

as for a free account, i have no idea how you stretched that out from "free time". one month free out of 12 month subscription is not a free acount. good luck next time, cause this time; you failed.
Sep 10, 2006 genka link
Man doc, you must be one perceptive blind four year-old, because unlike you, I still don't understand what you're getting at.

Are you saying that instead of wasting time on improving the tutorial the devs should instead invest a bit of free play time to various helper people to aid the newbs that actually bother to ask for help?

Or are you suggesting that you yourself would make a great helper-person, making the mistake of thinking that guides in fact exist to help people and that they get anything for their work?

Or maybe you're looking to basically do exactly what I do, minus the bitching, plus a bit of free time online?

Really, it's hard enough to understand what you're implying without the 'tude and the bizarre sentence structure. Can't you like, deflate a bit and lay everything out in regular terms, without the strange shorthand and everyone-imoprtant-will-understand-anyway-ness?
Sep 10, 2006 macguy link
I don't want you to get the wrong impression of me. I see what you're saying, you would be a full time mentor for some out of game retribution.

As for the update, does this corvus thing mean some one with all 0 license levels could buy anything and equip it, as long as they're admired by corvus?

(Yes, I know they'd have levels if they were admired by corvus, I was just trying to say the lowest levels possible.)
