There is inconsistency in the use of "power cell".
In (new) station interface, Other Addons, there are mixed usage of
PowerCell
Power Cell
battery (fast charge power cell description).

Er, I got a grey background!
weapon groups are now saved when you leave the tab or
change groups
Looks like it sometimes not saved... Not sured though, but if you change something and then hit LAUNCH, looks like it will prevent changes to take place. This still needs re-checking though
In navicomp now not just u doesn't work for "undo last click", but z doesn't work for "zoom to universe". It was especially annoying during today's races
In bottom right conner of PDA some info showed, among other things -- cargo (current/max). If cargo contents changes while you're in PDA, it doesn't update (it updates in Jettison menu though). Example: you're mining and looking into "Nearby ships" tab. You're supposed to know how much place left in cargo hold by this info shown in right bottom corner but it is not updated (though that was actually in 1.6.7, I didn't mine in 1.6.8 yet)
Anyway... Nice update, thanks for you work, devs!
PS: This is not mentioned in changelogs, but "Welcome" part in station interface is not marked as "This area is under construction and this one too" anymore. Yayz!
Oh wait... It's actually mentioned =)

what... the hell? when did the weapon grouping system change? It's even LESS intuitive than the old one now...
If alternate firing groups even EXIST anymore, I can't find how to set or use them... the client's system description/documentation is TERRIBLE.
And if they don't exist, I don't know how I'll fight... if I'm limited to assigning ports to specific firing keys, then there's no way I can cross-group and chain-fire multiple weapons on my joystick in flight.
Can someone please explain just what the hell is going on with the weapon groups?

I give up... Imma go get drunk now instead of playing... too much to work through and I don't have the patience.
It's under "Key 1", "Key 2", etc. They probably should be named "Group 1" and "Group 2", but "Key" seems to be the term for now It's not that hard to find, and you'd actually, you know, looked (instead of giving up 8 minutes after posting for help), you probably would have been all set. Hell, you could have even tried clicking the handy Help button to find out!
Okay, let me explain something... Key 1, Key 2, etc. is not the same as primary/weapon 1,2,3, secondary/missile 1,2,3, and tertiary/mine 1,2. In fact, they don't even seem to DO anything when clicked (what am I supposed to be assigning to what under the new system? it's not clear what's a property versus a value or label...)
I don't have the original numbered groups bound - I deleted them, because I needed those keys for more commands, and having an entire row devoted to weapon groupings was impractical. The old model was very smooth, simple and intuitive to customize virtually without limit, so I worked with a toggle bind to give me exactly the options I needed to fly my usual weapon layouts on my joystick. Of course, there's no reference I can use to assign weapon groups to something useable by my weapon group toggle bind, and that's even assuming that the mechanics for it still exist. Not to mention there's no documentation explaining a possible new alternate method of customizability under the new system, if there is one. I logged on during my limited time because I needed some quick stress relief, and the last thing that's going to help with that is trying to analyze an obscure new system and reporgram my binds to work with it...
You seem to have overlooked the obvious fact that I had spent a fair amount of time trying to figure it out before going through the trouble of posting the first time.

I hate it when people complain about something being terrible, when everyone else finds it great.
You unbound the default settings (with Groups) and used the old commands that the devs said were unsupported and brought from when there was ShootLasers ShootMissiles and ShootMines, and we could carry two mines at once. There's a reason that every version since Gods know when has used the Groups setup- it was supposed to be the only one.
WOO! We can finally use keys to jettison selected cargos!!!!...!!..
The vast majority of the new PDA seems rather good, I'm sure the odd idiosyncracy will be ironed out in time.
Put it this way : if I had written it you would still be stuck with Hollerith field descriptors. Six punch cards for each weapon group . Whingeth thee not........
cheers

New weapon grouping is actually simpler then before. You select, for example, "primary fire" and then select/unselect ports which will shoot as primary fire, then you do the same for secondary and tertiary. What can be simpler? You can assign the whole grouping layout to 1-6 (if you don't use these case for something else). My binds for chainfiring work well, check the wiki for them.
Anyway, I hope my bugreports which I posted earlier in this thread are noticed by devs

I'm sure they will be Alek.
On the subject of groupings, I had a lot of trouble last night. As usual, Nerde Verde held my hand and helped me fix it. That makes like three times he's helped me out. I need to send him a check or something.
Anyway, one of the things to remember is to make sure that you have a key grouping selected. The documentation is lagging, but the key groups can be selected by pressing 1-6 on the keyboard. This was the problem I had: somehow the wrong grouping was selected. Since I rarely touch the keyboard now that i have my joystick, I'm at a loss to explain how, but it caused me no end of frustration until Nerde had me try to pick different groupings and we fixed the problem.

As most have already said, the new UI is a definite step in teh right direction. There are a few wrinkles to be ironed out, as with any WIP,..
But I like.
But I like.
EDIT: f**k it ill re-post this when im sober
Yeah Will, that's a good point.
Devs, there has been a lot of criticism, and there have been a lot of complaints about the new UI, but I sure hope you all understand how much we appreciate your steady improvements to it. It's gotta be frustrating to think you have all the bugs ironed out and FINALLY everyone will be happy... only to have nineteen knuckleheads complain about the "Z" key.
This version of the UI is light years beyond 1.6.6 and 1.6.7, and I've no doubt in my mind that 1.9 will be even better.
We appreciate you. Thanks for the hard work!

I've given it a couple of days and I'm still mildly annoyed with the new interface. But, I'm a picky bastard.
Why do we now have three areas for interacting with the game? Top row of buttons, right side of buttons, and bottom row of buttons? Why not just have drop-down menus or something? Or smaller iconic buttons without text across the top? (Possibly hover-hint-text if necessary...)
More importantly, I think that the buttons don't do what the average user expects them to do. In order to get the navmap, I click PDA at the top and "Ship" at the right. "Nearby Ships" displays ships in sector, not Ships that I have stashed nearby. The welcome screen is under "Commerce". The Bar chat is separate from the main chat area for some reason. Why do we have to REQUEST headlines for news? Etc, etc.
If I have time I'll add a graphical suggestion. More thought needs to be put into the placement and organization of this UI.
