I second that. Devs, from a users point of view I don't think I've ever seen a group of developers work as hard as you do to improve a gaming community. I hope you understand how much we appreciate it. Well done!

Problems I found with the PDA-like station interface.

1. No station chat button. Some of us actually use station chat; if something else is planned instead for this or any other chat, please do tell.

2. Mission descriptions get truncated; they should be made to wrap around or formatted for the smaller windows. Also, once you have the mission, you then need to maximize chat to acccess mission chat, which is annoying. Remember that Trade Guild missions REQUIRE you talk in mission chat.

3. ESC doesn't work. In the normal UI, pressing ESC opens the options dialog without having to click on the button. I really like and use that shortcut, so it'd be neat to have it back.

4. Once you click on the chat line, the focus sticks there, so you have to click another active thing (button or tab) to move the focus off chat, and be able to use hotkeys (like 'n' or 'j'). I think this is the thing I'd like to see fixed first.

Apart from all this, I think it will not be a bad thing, this new view.

Station chat is useful, though I can see why it would be phased out.

What do you have to say to the mission for Trade Guild missions?
We're trying to get rid of having to chat to the mission. The only way to interact with the mission is to press buttons (or chat to specific NPCs, etc...)

Point 3 is fixed and for point 4, pressing esc should make the editbox lose focus. If not, shift+tab or ctrl+tab will go to the next control and then the edit box won't have focus.

The navmap is too zoomed in in space.

ray: Trade Guild missions are meta-missions that bring up a multiple-choice dialog tree of different missions available, like

"do you want to do:
1. delivery 2. procurement 3. special delivery 4. retrieval (etc)"

..we need to chat numbers to Mission to walk the tree

That's what the buttons replace. The buttons have whatever text was after each option.

I like the buttons better. It's much more intuitive. Generally, I like the new UI better. It may be a bit rough around the edges still, but that could also be attributed to my being slow in adapting to new stuff.

Um, what buttons are we talking about here? This is how the screen looks for me once I've taken a trade guild mission. Again, the only way I've found to speak with it is by maximizing chat and checking the mission tab.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen any new buttons anywhere on the interface. Or do you mean the buttons are incoming? Or am I totally looking in the wrong place? Because the mission logs tab didn't have them, either.

(okay, I found them :D )

*these* buttons, jex.. (though the textbox needs some horizontal scrollbars :o )
